Welcome to Big Sky Retreat AZ!

CURRENT WEATHER: 70-80 F daytime. Chilly nights in the lower to upper 40's for night time. Bring extra layers/blankets.

CAMPSITE: "Pronghorn"

Onsite property owners! Our homestead located nearby should you need assistance.

Petting Zoo available. We currently have two young goats, "Thelma & Louise", and some brand new kittens! The goats are very friendly and love attention and snacks!

FEATURES:    Two picnic tables. Just 3 sites currently, so they are shared.    Some really cool aesthetics!    Two large plastic barrel bins. For "small" trash & aluminum cans ONLY. (Please limit to small amounts of trash disposal on property. We must haul manually, thanks!)

If this site is booked, see our other sites, "Lonesome Dove", and "Pronghorn". All sites were planned equal in views and unique arrangements.

Welcome to nature's planetarium...On clear nights, sleep under a wondrous view of the Milky Way and expansive stars! Then, awaken in the morning to the local songbirds and buzzing of the local hummingbirds. Bring a camera, as the sunset skies are always unique. The 2.3-acre property has plenty of Juniper and Pinon trees.

PETS: We are "pet friendly" as long as your pets are friendly too! We have medium/large family-oriented dogs kept inside or within a fenced area by our home. We have many critters here on our mini-farm as well. (Tie outs or leashes required when outside of your tent or trailer, but we may make an exception for well-behaved pets.)

You can pick up a "few" last minute foods and drinks at the local Raptor Ranch Grocery store. We are located just 4.5 miles away. However, it's best to stock up on supplies prior to arrival. Please notify us at least half an hour before arrival time if possible.

NOTE: Due to the majority of our guests coming and going to the canyon early in the morning, our latest check-in time is 8:00 PM.  Please be mindful and courteous of our other campers. Our "quiet hours" are between 9 pm-6 am. (music, generators, barking dogs, etc.)Thanks, and enjoy your stay!

Our 3 night stay at Big Sky Retreat was excellent. Our campsite felt very private but had easy access to the toilet/outhouse, and common areas. We didn’t use it, but the propane fire pit was ready to use. Purchase your wood from Andrew and Suzanne. It burns better than anything else you find locally. The site was clean and the hosts were welcoming. It snowed on our first night there. It was beautiful! We enjoyed a walk up the mountain on a path recommended by the hosts.

Great secluded spot that’s close to the Grand Canyon. Andrew and Suzanne were great hosts that welcomed us when we arrived.

The place has some great trails connect to it for 4 wheeling with your truck or ATVs. Andrew was very nice and gave me a target for shooting my bows.

Bring those blankets because it can get cold at night, but luckily they had a gas fire pit.

Big sky retreat was so much fun. We only passed through for the night on our way out of town but what an exciting stop it was. We didn’t get to meet Suzanne but her husband was so welcoming and excited to show us around the grounds. After expressing our interest in seeing the animals they have, he and his children packed multiple goats, chickens, ducks, and cats into their car and drove them down to our campsite for a meet and greet. As a couple from Chicago, this is not something we get to see every day!! The animals were friendly and we had fun feeding and petting them. While we were cooking dinner at our campsite, we heard some mooing, and saw 10 cows across the road from us! We were initially caught off guard but it made for a great memory. Campground was quiet and clean, and the shower was so amazing. Toilet setup is great too, very private. Maps on your phone will lead you to the wrong place so just call the host when you get close and they will help you get there.

Great off grid location, composting toilet and hot shower were great additions! We shared a picnic table with the other site. The lawn chairs at each site were awesome. Great night skies, coyote and cow noises :-)

We enjoyed our stay, and everything was exactly as described. It was very clear to us that our hosts have put a lot of effort into creating a wonderful campsite for their guests. We especially enjoyed taking a walk down the road to enjoy some beautiful views of the surrounding mountains.

Suzanne and her husband are both super friendly and awesome hosts. Just 30 minutes away from south entrance of the Grand Canyon. Great low key place to stay and would definitely stay here again.

We had a great time at this campsite! The shower was warm, with great water flow. The hosts were so nice, and even brought us a tent pole when ours broke! they also gave us some butter we needed and showed us their baby animals! They were very friendly and accommodating, I could not recommend enough!

Very low key spot about 30 minutes away from the Grand Canyon. Hosts were great and greeted us when we arrived. The hot shower and out house are nice touches to come Home to after a long day of hiking.

The site itself was well kept and there was plenty of space to sprawl out. Due to it being somewhat off the grid, the stars were absolutely incredible.

The only small issue with the site is that it got quite windy during the day, both days the wind died down around 8pm and was quite calm.

Overall great stay.

Great campsite and host! A little remote and hard to find in the dark, but if you're looking for a quiet site with incredible stargazing, it's perfect :)
