The best period to visit Knockan Crag National Nature Reserve is from June through September for long evenings and unforgettable coastal sunsets. May is traditionally one of the driest and quietest months, ideal for arriving before the tourist crowds at the height of summer. In winter, you will likely have the trails of Knockan Crag completely to yourself. The unmanned Rock Room visitor centre is open 365 days, allowing ample time to explore the reserve's billion-year-old history and deep time.
