The best time to visit Gairloch is from May through October as this is when you'll find most attractions and restaurants open and the best chances for warmer and drier weather. Summer brings a large number of visitors, however, especially along the North Coast 500 route, so try to avoid the height of summer. Some campsites in the area are seasonal: check opening dates before traveling. If you choose to wild camp, be sure to adhere to the Scottish Outdoor Access Code. While there is a bus service to Gairloch, it is limited. Having your own transport offers a better experience. For provisions, you’ll find good shops in Gairloch and Poolewe.
