A cool retro-chic caravan on an organic farm near Cardigan Bay

The glamping at Nantgwynfaen Organic Farm comes with vintage style and views of the Teifi Valley. From the outside, The Glamavan is a single static caravan in an enviable location but step inside and you are transported to another era. Carefully-sourced vintage furniture and cool retro fabrics combine with mod cons to make glamping accommodation that is as stylish as it is comfortable. And it’s all within the glorious rural surroundings of west Wales, not far from Cardigan Bay.

The Glamavan sits in its own lovely little garden at Nantgwynfaen Organic Farm where there’s also a five-pitch campsite, a farm shop and a couple of self-catering cabins and rooms. It’s been lovingly created and cared for by kind and capable couple, Amanda and Ken, who’ve lived on this land for more than 25 years. Their organic approach to farming, the sustainable products stocked in the shop and the eco-friendly holidays they offer show how much they love this place – and it’s rather hard not to.

Step outside your comfy caravan and you are surrounded by nature with red kites swooping overhead and garden birds chattering in trees. The sights and sounds of the farm are entertainment enough for some but there’s a games room too, with table tennis, a pool table and more. Off site, the west coast of Wales beckons. It’s a 30-minute drive to the charming fishing village of New Quay and the sandy beaches of Cardigan Bay. It's just a little further to reach Cardigan itself and Pembrokeshire. Excellent fishing and pleasant walks can be found closer by on the banks of the River Teifi, the longest river in Wales and the natural sculptor of the views you enjoy from the comfort of the Glamavan.

 ConTENTed is the smallest pitch at Nantgwynfaen, but it's elevated westerly facing position makes it a bright and ideal pitch for 1 or 2 guests.  It feels intimate and private, surrounded by garden shrubs and hedges, but there is surprisingly enough space for a medium tent.  Please note that if you would like a campfire too, it will be only be possible if your tent is smaller - due to space constraints. Please call us if you are concerned about this. Dogs are most welcome. Nantgwynfaen Organic Farm is a very special place. It is a working farm with sheep and sometimes cattle in the summer. Hens lay fresh eggs daily and Ben the Collie and Dave the Corgi area always ready to play ball. It is just so peaceful – a place to unwind and listen to the birds. Each camping pitch is carefully laid out in their own private space with only the green countryside to soak up. It is a quiet family-friendly site suitable for families, couples, retired couples and anyone who just loves the great outdoors. BBQs & Campfires welcome.   There is a large games barn, with table tennis, pool and darts.  The farm shop is well stocked, and there is a larger village shop 2 miles away (or a half an hour walk) where there is a gastro pub The Daffodil Inn Penrhiwllan. There is a petrol station in Llandysul 3 miles away. The toilet and shower facilities are located on the farmyard in a stylish zinc building, where there is free hot water. There is a dish washing sink and drainer, an open-air wash hand basin for face, teeth and hands; a shower cubicle with a quirky watering can shower; and a toilet and sink cubicle.  There is a freezer for freezing blocks.  Note: some camping pitches have private toilet and shower facilities. Guests are encouraged to explore all corners of the 60-acre farm, so bring your wellies! Sorry, we cannot accommodate larger groups. We ask guests to be quiet after 10.00pm.  As well as the camping pitches at Nantgwynfaen (Love at First Site, ConTENTed, Sun of a Pitch, Pitch Perfect and HindSite) there is other accommodation on offer for those who who want a break from canvas - or who want to visit during cooler months : Glamping in The Glamavan (the retro chic static caravan which sleeps up to 5), Ty Nodyn, a quirky cottage on the farmyard with a 'piano bed' and log burner (sleeps 3+1) and the log cabin, Ty Mamgu (Grandma's House) a romantic retreat for 2 with a real piano and cosy log burner.  In the stone farmhouse there is a double room with a sweet adjoining private kitchen.  It is called Y Parlwr Bach (the little parlour) and comes with an optional second double room (max 4 can sleep in the farmhouse).  Contact Nantgwynfaen direct to book.

The Glamavan is a very fun retro-chic vintage-style static caravan which sleeps up to five, but is equally a romantic bolthole for couples. Set in its own gardens along a charming chestnut paling fence it has commanding views over the Teifi Valley and organic farm.  It has a double bedroom (135cm/4'6" wide double bed) and a twin bedroom (60cm/2' wide, 165cm/5'6"ft long beds – shorter than average, suitable for children and small adults). There is a sofa bed in the bay window for a fifth person. A fully fitted kitchen fulfills all your culinary needs – a gas cooker with eye level grill, toaster, kettle, microwave and fridge with small ice box. There is a shower and toilet in the bathroom. For entertainment there are games, Wifi, a smart TV with DVD player and a Robert's Radio. There is a BBQ, firepit and outdoor furniture set amongst the flowers in the private established garden. When it gets chilly there are electric radiators and a heated towel rail. All linen and towels are provided (but please bring your own beach towels). With just the chickens for neighbours, who could ask for more? There is a Wendy House nearby, a washing line and outdoor tap. The farm shop is stocked full of convenient goodies and a loaf of bread can be made for you, with 24 hours notice. Nantgwynfaen Organic Farm is a working farm set in beautiful West Wales. Here is a place where you can experience peace and tranquillity – unwind surrounded by green fields, with wonderful views. There is birdsong all day and a dark sky at night to observe unpolluted heavens. Just a short drive will take you to the dramatic coast of Cardigan Bay with its magnificent sandy beaches, the coastal path and Bottlenose Dolphins. Drink at local microbreweries, eat wood-fired pizzas, walk to the gin distillery and cheesemaker. The farm itself prides itself on its green credentials and award-winning accommodation. There is a games barn with table tennis and pool table – a refuge from the elements and a cool space when it's sunny. The farm shop is stocked with local organic produce and homemade bread to order. Picture yourself gathered around a campfire on a warm summers evening surrounded by ancient ash trees. Look up and watch the swallows, red kites, buzzards and later on the bats and owls. Beautiful area and wonderful walks on the farm. Nice hosts too. Unfortunately, the sleeping accommodation in our fixed caravan was much smaller than appeared in the pictures and was not comfortable or practical. Would happily come back, but to camp

we’ve been” weekend “ camping for a couple of years and decided as we loved it so much we’d do a week somewhere special and boy did we find that at Nantgwynfaen -amazing scenery, wonderful hosts in Ken & Amanda (you must get a loaf from Ken!). We had ‘sun of a pitch’ and it was stunning! Red Kites flying so close on the first day followed by rabbits, horses, stoat/pine marten (not sure) and a skylark! And that’s all “on-site!” We travelled to see dolphins, red kites being fed and water buffalo in the Teifi marshes - you absolutely should come here - so much to do and so much not to do! We had THE most relaxing time - thank you Amanda & Ken - not forgetting the dogs and their pig! X

The Glamavan
The Glamavan is such a wonderfully quirky, yet spacious place to stay. Amanda and Ken have put so much thought and work into everything and we had everything we could possibly need. Best of all, the added extras were all sustainable products which was really in keeping with our values as a family. The farm was a gorgeous place to wander around and there was always a bunny or two hopping about, as well as the resident cats and friendly dogs. The farm shop was a great bonus too, plenty of varied produce for all dietry requirements, and the honesty system works really well. Ken and Amanda were always around if we needed anything, but we had plenty of space and privacy too. I would highly recommend Nantgwynfaen 😊

Fantastic site with great hosts. The individual pitches are widely spaced so there is a real sense that you have the place to yourself. Great honesty farm shop where you can stock up on pretty much anything you need. Really can't recommend enough!

Love At First SITE
Just got home from a wonderful 3 night stay camping in ‘Love at first Site’. Nantgwynfaen is in a beautiful and peaceful location and having no mobile signal was a bonus. Loved getting back to nature with the outside shower and was pleasantly surprised by the amazing organic and eco friendly shop! You literally don’t need to leave if you don’t want to! Every thing there for a lovely relaxing stay 🥰 Our dog Twiggy also had a fab time with walks on the beaches and lazing in the sun back at the farm.

Wonderful stay in Ty Mamgu, a cosy cabin with beautiful decor, every last detail and immaculately presented. Lovely eggs, milk and waffles as a welcome gift. Beautiful sunsets, lovely pub just down the road - The Daffodil. Lots of walks nearby and quiet sandy beaches. It was just bliss and can't wait to go back! We have stayed in two other glamping sites nearby but very happy we have discovered Nantgwynfaen.

Great place to go if you want to relax, unwind and just chill with nature. Ken and Amanda are awesome hosts, always there if you need them but give you plenty of space to enjoy your hols. I stayed on Son of a Pitch which has it's own outdoor shower and washing sink, it's a private pitch with great views over the valley, there's also a gate you can close which stopped my dog from wandering around the farm, which was cool. There's a great farm shop which sells pretty much everything you need all locally sourced, also Ken makes a great flower pot loaf, well worth checking out. There are loads of walks direct from the farm in some beautiful countryside, with stunning views. I'll definitely be going again, it's such a nice place to relax, unwind and not think about work haha.

We were due to stay 4 nights but arrived a day early because of the storms - Amanda was able to get us in the van at very short notice and we loved the place. Cute decor, comfy beds and sofas, and all the essentials we needed - even tin foil! And Wifi!! Not your usual 'maybe on a good day a whisper of a connection, but an actual hub in the van! And it worked throughout Storm Eunice! Kids were very happy. Great to have a dog friendly place to stay, with space to walk about and explore (weather permitting). Would love to come back in the summer

Had a great time during my stay. It was deathly cold since I went in Jan, but I still enjoyed my time and the hosts were really friendly, and even let me borrow an extra blanket and duvet for the cold (it was still freezing, but it's the thought that counts haha). I stayed at the 'Sun of a pitch' site. It was lovely and private. Even had my own private outdoor shower and washup sync. Would come back again, but maybe when the weather's a bit better hehe

It was so lovely to have a really private pitch on this small but perfectly formed site. Facilities were spotless and best (watering can) shower ever - perfect temperature The honesty shop is amazing and we requested a flowerpot loaf for one more morning which was totally delicious Loved this place - hopefully will visit again

This is a lovely, small, welcoming campsite .Everything has been designed with great care and attention so that it's comfortable and immersed in nature at the same time. We had some lovely evenings sitting out at the camp fire listening to the barn owls - a rare treat !

We absolutely loved our trip to Nantgwynfaen farm, and will certainly be back. It's so quiet and peaceful, and won the approval of our youngest son who, for the first time ever, said he enjoyed the holiday and didn't want to leave (he is not usually a happy camper so this is praise indeed). We loved the tranquility, the wildlife, the privacy. Our boys loved the gorgeous dogs, Ben and Dave, the games barn, and the chance to play in this beautiful spot. Thank you for a lovely holiday Ken and Amanda.

Love At First SITE
The Love at First Site pitch was a special pitch with plenty of space for our campervan & awning as well for sitting the children to run around and sit around the fire pit. The private outdoor shower and compost loo made it even better.The whole site is well thought through limiting the number of pitches and respecting the environment, with great facilities such as the well stocked shop and games barn. Some good places to visit nearby including the Caws Teifi cheese shop and the beautiful coastline for beaches, walks and dolphin spotting.

The Glamavan
We booked a 3 night getaway in the Glamavan for my husbands birthday and it then evolved to our friends joining us on their own ‘pitch perfect’ in their camper van. We could not have picked a more idyllic spot to stay, catch up after soo many months apart and get back to an almost normal world. The farm shop is incredible and well stocked. We all kept on rummaging through the freezers and finding new bits we wanted to try on the BBQ and then had to run back as we remembered we needed rolls and salad bits too! Only 15 minutes away from the sea, we headed to the coast to find beaches and dolphins and found both!! It was everything we needed and wanted this holiday and my husband had the best of birthdays - THANK YOU!!

Love At First SITE
We stayed on the pitch called "Love at first site" - and it was. . . A huge pitch totally isolated down the end of a lane with its own outdoor shower and washing up facilities, and a private compost loo, although that was a little walk down the track. Amanda and Ken were great hosts and had done a lot of work on the pitch to provide a hard stand which is grassed to avoid effecting the aesthetics. We had a 6m campervan and it fitted (just). The farm shop was awesome, and we found a number of goodies in there. Incredibly well maintained, just a wonderful experience.

We had a lovely week camping at Nantgwynfaen. It is very private with individual pitches. Facilities spotlessly clean and sanitised. Amanda and Ken are lovely hosts and very approachable. I would highly recommend a stay here if you like peace, and tranquillity in beautiful surroundings.

On arrival, I immediately felt at peace and I knew there and then that this would be a pleasant stay and it was. We parked up, and just took a moment to appreciate the scenery and were soon welcomed and shown around and it was all very good. We setup camp, and we were happy. We looked around, and visited the shop of which had beyond the basics of which was really great and did visit there many times to pick out some items such as firewood, meat, veg, and more. The people were friendly and helpful. The camp was quiet and peaceful. I had a great stay and I would certainly recommend it!

Amanda and Ken, the proprietors of NOF were warm and welcoming. We were greeted almost immediately and shown to our camping pitch. The pitch (as with the whole place) was idyllic. We thoroughly enjoyed the peace and quiet of the place, as well as the audacious robin that kept stealing the crumbs of our plates. Excellent facilities including quaint outdoor loo and shower, and organic farm shop. Plus, the site is in a great location for exploring nearby beaches (by car). I would thoroughly recommend!

We stayed a whole week on this gorgeous wild farm. The bird song is incredible and all the pitches are in secret little nooks which makes it feel lovely and private. There is also a great little farm shop, lots of lovely walks around the site and fabulous views! We will definitely be back.

Our stay with Amanda and Ken at their beautiful organic farm was even better than we had hoped. The setting was lovely, the welcome warm and the Farm Shop brimming with goodies. The highlight for us was our private outdoor shower. The pitch was so well thought out - we didn't want to leave. You won't regret staying here. We can't wait to return.

We stayed at Nantgwynfaen during a weekend in April, when 'shared facilities' were still not permitted due to Covid rules. Amanda & Ken had put a lot of effort in to make sure all individual families had their own private facilities. We are very grateful. The campsite is quiet and in a beautiful environment. The kids had a brilliant time exploring the woods, fields and stream. There is a fully stocked campsite shop and we had freshly baked bread on the Saturday morning. We had an amazing weekend and would love to visit again!

We absolutely loved our 3 night camping stay at Nantgwynfaen, our only regret is we hadn't discovered it sooner. Our pitch (Hind site) was tucked away behind the games barn and was private, quiet and because of the time of year we camped (late September) we were able to have exclusive access to the toilet / shower facilities which were immaculately clean. Amanda & Ken have done amazing things to make sure that the campsite is safe - looking around the farm, each pitch have there own facilities, some have their own outdoor shower and sink space. They are obviously taking measures seriously but in a way that doesn't have too much impact on your stay/experience. They were both very hospitable and on call for any questions & recommendations. Also the farm shop is brilliant. Enjoyed some local produce whilst sitting by the fire pit in our private pitch - looking forward to the next time.

Really lovely family campsite. Clean toilets (choice of composting or flushing) and washing up area. Beautiful location. Campsites have privacy thanks to the generous greenery surrounding them. On site farm shop is a real bonus, selling fresh milk, cheese, veg and sundries (meat is in chest freezers so will need to plan ahead for bbqs!). Note also the the ground in our campsite (Hind) is quite hard and bumpy so airbeds are recommended for a comfy night’s sleep. Will definitely visit again.

Love At First SITE
This is truly how camping should be if you ask me! Plenty of space and stunning view! We stayed a week and could easily have stayed more! Each spot is unique and there is full of lovely details everywhere, Amanda and Ken could not be more helpful and lovely. We really enjoyed the private spot and the shower we had on our pitch. The farm shop is a amazing and you only need to go shopping if you need wine otherwise the shop proved everything you might want, Ken’s freshly baked bread in the morning was lovely and such a treat! We can wait to return to this little plot of paradise! Thanks again for everything and for making our stay so lovely.

We spent 6 nights on sonofapitch, the view is stunning and the outdoor private shower in a morning was my highlight. Ken and Amanda are lovely people and keep the farm and facilities lovely and clean. The farm shop is amazing they have everything you need, and it was lovely to shop everyday and not have to go to the supermarket and think of things you might need. Ken’s bread is wonderful we really enjoyed it. Wouldn’t hesitate to go again as it’s a lovely area and very close to many little beach towns like new quay and Aberporth both lovely. Thanks ken and Amanda for making us so welcome.

Nearby attractions

It's a short drive to Cardigan Bay, famous for its bottlenose dolphins. The Ceredigion Heritage Coast is home to lovely seaside towns and villages like Llangrannog – where you can even go dry-slope skiing – and New Quay, a wonderful little fishing village a few miles south from the colourful harbour town of Aberaeron. There's a host of good beaches and an array of great walking routes, while further south the Pembrokeshire Coast Path takes in the best of the National Park and its dramatic coastline, as does the longer Wales Coast Path. The National Wool Museum (free entry) is a short drive from the farm, while Newcastle Emlyn is 10 minutes away and boasts the ruins of a 13th century castle, good restaurants, and a country market every Friday. The River Teifi offers trout fishing, walking trails and canoeing in most places.  This is a great area for coasteering.  There is a comprehensive list of things to do and places to eat in this fabulous area on the site's own website.

Food and drink

There's a farm shop on site specialising in organic produce, some fresh from the farm, and sustainable goods. Don't miss the chance to enjoy a loaf of fresh flowerpot bread baked by Ken (just order 24 hours in advance). A couple of miles down the road lies The Daffodil Inn (01559 370343) at Penrhiwllan, a cracking gastropub (listed in the Michelin Guide) with stunning views of the Teifi Valley countryside from its dining room. Teifi Cheese Farm is very nearby and is a lovely place to stock up on local cheese and buy award winning botanical and seaweed gin from their organic distillery (book to go on a distillery tour). Cardigan is a great place to eat in. Buy local crab and other delicacies from the Tuesday Market in St Dogmaels then eat at Pizza Tipi, Crwst, Bara Menyn (amazing sour dough) and El Salsa Mexican street food (you might need a couple of trips!). Fantastic fresh organic vegetables are grown at Glebelands Market Garden (Thurs-Sat) at St Dogmaels and there is a very nice well stocked village shop at Penrhiwllan Stores.
