This old Catalan blacksmith’s has been transformed by a Dutch family into an organic farm and unique place to stay (camping and gites). It’s a gentle, international commune-like atmosphere where we come together to enjoy nature and the outdoors.The horse farm is part of the 60-hectare La Fargassa estate, which also includes an organic orchard with various fruit and nut trees. The grounds are home to several animals, including mountain horses, goats, donkeys and dogs. It’s a place where humans, animals and nature coexist in harmony and horseback riding offers an unforgettable experience. Children run freely in the grass, jump from rocks into the river, slide down the waterslide and play adventurous games. The child-friendly campsite provides an unforgettable experience for families, immersed in nature and completely free from Wi-Fi or mobile coverage.Guests can stay in comfortable gîtes, chalets, studios, a yurt or fully furnished tents (available in July and August for families and groups. There is also space for guests to pitch their own tents. The family-friendly environment allows children to swim in the river and meet the animals, while parents relax and enjoy the peace and surroundings. The campsite is open year-round, including all school holidays.The surrounding area invites adventure: hiking along the famous GR10 trail, swimming in natural river pools or joining organized excursions through the rugged mountain landscape. Mas de la Fargassa is a true eco-community where visitors can enjoy outdoor life, nature and the serenity of the wild mountains.The road to Mas de la Fargassa is scenic but narrow and winding, not ideal for large campers or caravans. However, once you arrive, you are rewarded with pure tranquillity, a warm community, endless nature and the authentic outdoor experience.

We have four beautiful pitches available for guests with their own tent (reservation required). For a pitch with your own tent, the price is €350 per week in the high season (no additional charges). Unfortunately, staying with a van or camper is not possible during the high season. Please bring biodegradable laundry products and shampoos, thank you. In the pre- and post-season, we welcome guests with their own tent or a small camper. However, to avoid disappointment, please call us before driving up our road.

In the high season (July–August), we offer 3 fully furnished, spacious Nordisk tents for rent, suitable for 4–5 people. Rentals are by the week, from Saturday to Saturday. Our rental tents cost: €600 for the first week, €550 for subsequent weeks (no additional charges). The tents are equipped with electricity, a refrigerator, gas stove, kitchen utensils, slatted bed bases, mattresses, pillows, lamps, and more. Please bring your own bed linen and towels.

The accomodation is a studio, a former pig stable fully renovated, which can host 2 adults and 2 kids (double bed + bunk beds of 1.20m long). There is a private bathroom (shower and toilets), a small kitchen and a private terrace with a South exposition to fully enjoy the sun! A gas-heater is available for the fresher nights out of summer (suplement cost). This nature house is an isolated place in the French Pyrénées, where you will enjoy the peacefulness to relax and rest, meditate and fall asleep with the owls singing. During day time, you will be able to swim the the calm river and its natural pools, explore the area, horse-riding, walk to nearby spots such as the impressive Roc San Salvador rock just reading and napping in a hamac! It's located directly on the GR10, one of the most beautiful long-distance hiking trails. In the evenings we gather around the campfire, share stories under the stars, and make music. Nearby in the valley, you can visit Céret or Amélie les Bains. Céret is famous thanks to the many painters who stayed there and its museum is beautiful, as well as the market on Saturday mornings. Amélie le Bains has thermal baths and is renowned since antiquity! Or visit The Mediterranean coast. You will be able to visit the cute villages of Collioure and Banyuls, have a swim in the sea and why not scuba diving!

The Rivier Gîte is a small and cosy family accommodation in our traditional mas, perfect for a family with up to three children. The River Gîte has its own private entrance leading to the first floor, where you’ll find a charming south-facing balcony with space for a table and chairs, ideal for enjoying your morning coffee in the sun. On this level there is a welcoming living area with a wood-burning stove, French doors and an open-plan kitchen, creating a relaxed and homely atmosphere. The gîte offers beautiful views: to the east over the river, and to the south towards our communal fire pit. This is a lovely spot where guests often gather in the evenings to share meals and stories. Upstairs you’ll find two comfortable bedrooms and a small bathroom with a toilet and a corner bathtub with a shower above, perfect for unwinding after a day outdoor!

Nearby attractions

The narrow mountain road has a precipitous drop; it’s not for the faint-hearted. Nor is it for those who like nipping out to the shops. Any journey away from the site is a bit of an adrenaline sport in itself, so for something a little more relaxing planning a hiking trip with Johan is recommended – particularly his half day or fill day walks across the border into Spain. Pony and horse trekking can also be arranged, with shorter routes for children.
