Classic Dordogne camping with terrific valley views, a peaceful vibe, and friendly hosts

We accept guests aged 7 years and over.

The campsite is a rustic and comfortable oasis of calm, with just eight pitches, a pre-erected rental tent and two rental caravans...all rentals (and most pitches) benefit from that view of the Chateau.

It’s well catered for with its cosy dining room, with exposed brick walls, a charming pool in which to coll off and a little shop selling basics where in the evening you can place an order for mouth-watering fresh pastries and bread to be delivered the next morning.

The scrupulously clean shower block has two showers, two toilets and a wash basin...all in their own cubicles; there's also a sink for the washing up. In addition, there's a library, tourist information and your hosts are always on hand with tips and guides to make the most of your visit.

A beautiful situation with very attentive and friendly hosts. Unfortunately, the pitches were quite close toogether so we didn't feel as private as we had hoped and the facilities are a bit out of date. We felt very welcomed and taken care of and the area is outstanding. The washing and bathroom facilities let down the hosts.

Small site in secluded area which to use was an advantage. The pool was a very useful benefit as the temperature was high when we were there. Excellent briefing from Simon. The owners were always available to help or advise. We will be returning.

Camping with a view!

Simon and Cal are wonderful hosts, they went above and beyond to make sure our stay was top notch! From their fabulous 4 course meals to croissants and french bread delivered to the tent each morning (by request), they really looked after us well. The campsite was impeccably clean and very quiet. We had a lovely stay and will be back!

Small and perfectly formed! Such a lovely place and with great hosts. We were made to feel so welcome and dined on wonderful home cooked food, with the best croissants delivered for breakfast! If you’re looking for peace and quiet this is the place! Thank you Simon and Cal - we will return!

Made to feel very welcome both before and during our stay-nothing was too much trouble-offers to collect food from the shops ,lovely bakery morning delivery (in person to the van)and delicious evening meals-OK so it was a little muddy-but the rainiest spring and summer in many years is nobody’s fault and we were sensibly advised to park our van in the gravel forecourt so it did not affect our stay.

Camping at Belle Vue was an experience unlike any other camping eperience we have ever had. The owners, Cal and Simon, are the most wonderful hosts ever. They really go out of their way to make sure you have a fantastic holiday. Plus the area is absolutely beautiful and you can also have a delicious four course meal every night if you want, cooked by Cal. I cannot recommend this site highly enough - we will definitely go back there.

A beautiful campsite with a beautiful view! This is a real gem of a site that offered a relaxing and welcoming stay from the moment we arrived. The hosts, Simon and Cal, have created a haven that provides so much more than the average camping experience. They clearly love what they do and always have time for their guests, happily going the extra mile (they were absolute life savers when our van broke down). Fresh locally made croissants and bread were delivered to our pitch every morning and they were more than happy to help to arrange a booking or advise on places to go. If you don’t feel like cooking, the on site evening dining experience is an absolute treat that we recommend you try at least once. We are already planning our return!

Camping Belle Vue is idyllic. Lovely large pitches with sun/shade all day and beautiful views. Simon and Cal are wonderful hosts and dinner is a real treat. We can’t wait to return next year.

We stayed here as two couples with two tents. We could not have been made more welcome. This is a lovely little campsite with an absolutely stunning view. Our hosts could not have done more to make us welcome and I think their friendly, helpful hands on approach filters through to all who stay as everyone was considerate of others staying. We booked dinner which is taken in the barn and was amazing; delivery of the breakfast we had pre-ordered was a real treat - sitting at our camping table with a cuppa and our croissants arrive - what could be better? The showers/toilet facilities were excellent - clean, plenty of room in the shower cubicles and lovely hot water. Our stay could not have been more relaxing - we really hope to go back. I almost didn't want to write a review as this is a real hidden gem we would rather keep to ourselves.

Beautiful campsite overlooking the castle of Hautefort. Sanitary facilities are in good order: clean and modern. A walk to the castle of Hautefort is highly recommended. Very spacious places with sufficient shade by beautiful trees.

Very nice location, close to all kinds of sights, clean and sufficient sanitary facilities, nice pool. There is a lot to do in the area for everyone: visit castles, caves, cycling, canoeing, hiking, visiting towns (Sarlat is recommended) etc. In short, for us it was a fantastic holiday and definitely a place to come back again!

We initially planned to camp for only a couple of weeks, we liked it so much we stayed for a camp record of 38 nights!! Simon and Cal are lovely hosts, nice small campsite and good facilities. Although the weather was a pretty disappointing, we swan in the pool most days which has been very well maintained. An evening meal can be booked which we thoroughly recommend as being tasty and good value. Cheers, hope to return again some time in the future

Fantastic campsite and owners that will welcome for a short...or long stay. I was so impressed that my short stay became long stay, they would do everything for you and with a smile. Very clean facilities and lovely view of Chateau Hautefort from most camping spots. They welcoming all nationalities and offer breakfast for all the season "whether there is 1 or 21 guests" which I thought is cute.

Super beautiful campsite, very spacious pitches with plenty of shade from beautiful trees. Grounds are beautifully landscaped and have a nice view of Chateau de Hautefort. Service on the campsite very good, everyone is attentive and helpful. The campsite is very well maintained and looks beautiful. Sanitary room also very clean.

From the very welcome cool drink on arrival to the fond farewells on leaving, we could not fault our stay at Belle Vue. We enjoyed Cal’s cooking a number of evenings during our stay - the food was of excellent quality. Our whole stay at Belle Vue completely exceeded our expectations. Thank you Simon and Cal for being such great hosts.

Another fabulous stay at Camping Belle Vue. Simon and Cal are the loveliest hosts you could wish for and the site itself is just so beautiful and peaceful. This is our second stay here and it didn't disappoint, we just wish we could have stayed for longer. The site has a beautiful view of the Chateau Hautefort which looks magical in the evening when it's all lit up, well worth a visit too! Simon and Cal are always on hand to help.. from providing a welcome drink on arrival, to delivering fresh bread and pastries for breakfast and you can book a delicious meal cooked and served by the hosts themselves in the traditional rustic barn. The site is small and peaceful with a lovely pool, great views and in a great location where you can reach lots of different activities and attractions. This is a fabulous site, with fabulous hosts and we will definitely be visiting Camping Belle Vue again!

After a day of hitting the tourist hotspots in Dordogne and driving hopefully towards the campsite at the last minute, it was wonderful to arrive to a warm welcome from Simon and Cal who had no idea we were coming. They quickly fixed us up with a space to pitch our tent, showed us the lovely view, and made sure that we knew that we were welcome to come and ask them questions when and as we needed. Although we had missed our chance to order dinner that evening, we sat with a glass of wine and appreciated the view in the late afternoon and were able to order fresh croissants for the next morning, brought to our tent 'door' by Simon. The following day we visited the Chateau de Hautefort - seeing it close up rather than from the campsite. Thank you both for such a lovely stay.

Col and Simon were such lovely hosts . They were so welcoming and friendly and provided a lovely meal, even when we were late. Our pitch was great with the chateau view and everything just as described on cool Camping. We decided to stay at Camping Belle Vue after reading the very positive reviews of the campsite online and we were not disappointed. This was our first time in the Dordogne region of France and the campsite was in a perfect location to explore the region. The views of the chateaux and the wildlife around the site was really special. The campsite is small, but that is definitley part of the charm. We have never stayed on a more friendly campsite! Simon and Cal were fabulous hosts, from the welcome drink when we arrived to the fresh breakfasts brought to our tent each morning, nothing was too much trouble. Both went out of their way to help us in anyway they could, from lending us maps of the local area to making phone calls on our behalf. One of the best elements of the site was the opportunity to eat in the barn. Cal's food was delicious and eating with other campers was extremely sociable. We loved the International Nights, where on top of a delicious meal there was a quiz about a different country. These were great fun! All in all we had a wonderful two weeks and could not think of anything at all that could be improved.

Camping Belle Vue is a very special - the best camping experience we have ever had. Simon and Cal are brilliant, nothing was too much trouble. They helped with enquiries about the local area and lent us a map or two with clear directions. They were bags of fun and it felt like we were guests in their own home by giving us such a warm welcome. Lovely meals and wine, all excellent value. Thank you, a highly recommended experience you don't want to miss. We'll be back...

We arrived at Belle Vue after a long journey and a week of camping dinners - Simon and Cal are so warm and welcoming this spreads to the whole campsite which was very friendly. After a welcome drink we put up the tent and then they made us a home cooked meal - it was like being at home again but more relaxed - time to chat to Simon and have a long French meal and I loved it!. Thank you for a great stay!

Even before arrival it was clear that this was going to be a wonderful stay. Simon and Cal are so organised and think of all the little extras that make a camping trip so easy, relaxing, fun and comfortable. They are keen to hear feedback and are always looking for ideas to improve the experience for holidaymakers (we couldn’t think of any!). Their offer to do some shopping for us was above and beyond any other campsite we’ve known! We really enjoyed two evenings dining in their barn with fellow campers. The site is delightful and the views of the château are superb. After visiting several other campsites in the Dordogne this summer we didn’t find anywhere to match the friendly welcome we received and would love to go back. Thank you!

We stayed in the rental tent which was fantastic. The tent was all set up with everything that we needed for a comfortable stay. We also had a great view of Chateaux Hautefort, which was lite at night. The site is delightful. Small, lots of space between pitches. And many mature trees gave welcome shade. Very well maintained. There is a small pool which we used everyday. The facilities are basic, but very clean. The other guests were a mix from Holland, France and Britain which made the quiz night a lot of fun. There is the opportunity to have dinner cooked for you. 4 courses for €18 served in the barn. Very atmospheric & rustic, delicious food and a bar service that was also reasonably priced. To top it all off, Si will deliver fresh pastries to your tent at 9am every morning. Thanks Si, Cal and lovely Coco for looking after us so well. Highly recommended. I hope we get the opportunity to return.

From arrival the owners, Simon and Cal, couldn't have been more helpful and welcomed us with a complimentary drink. The facilities are clean and tidy and you couldn't fault them at all. We booked an evening meal, which was both delicious and great value. Fresh bread can be ordered and is delivered to you each morning. Speaking with other campers we found that they, and others, book each year in advance. We have no hesitation in recommending Camping Belle Vue, and will be returning.

From the welcome drink to the sad farewells nothing is too much trouble for Si and Cal. Breakfast bread and pastries delivered in the morning, gorgeous meals cooked by Cal and served by Si, beautiful flowers around the pool,spotless sanitaires, views of Hautefort chateau from the site. We just love coming here.

Camping Belle Vue is well named... It soon wins you over with its intimate ambience and views over the fields to the local chateau: a grand old building crowning the village of Hautefort and, by night, lights up like a chandelier ! The campsite is a rustic and comfortable oasis of calm, with just eight pitches, a pre-erected rental tent and two rental caravans...all rentals (and most pitches) benefit from that view of the Chateau. It’s well catered for with its cosy dining room, with exposed brick walls, a charming pool in which to coll off and a little shop selling basics where in the evening you can place an order for mouth-watering fresh pastries and bread to be delivered the next morning. The scrupulously clean shower block has two showers, two toilets and a wash basin...all in their own cubicles; there's also a sink for the washing up. In addition, there's a library, tourist information and your hosts are always on hand with tips and guides to make the most of your visit. We accept guests aged at least 7 years (except pitches CE2, TN2, TE2, YN2 and YE2); our pitches (except CE2) have a surface area of approximately 36 square metres and can accommodate units up to 6 metres (on the longest side) and up to 2.6 metres high.

Nearby attractions

Oodles of things to do, from riding the Velo Rail (pedal karts) on disused railway tracks, to horse-riding, and hot air ballooning, which will set you back around €200, but is unforgettable. You might want to head for the river and hire a kayak. In July and August the tourist office organises tours to foie gras and walnut farms. Finally the prehistoric paintings of Lascaux are nearby (a short trip down D704).

Food and drink

The cuisine onsite is typically French: a 4 course menu to include dishes such as baked camembert, boeuf bourguignon, cheeses and creme brulee costs just 19€ per person. There's also a 2 course children's menu at 10,50€. The onsite shop sells drinks, ice creams and has most of the daily essentials available as well.
