We did a two week roadtrip in the west of France where we stayed in 5 different camping places. This one was by far the most jaw dropping! We were welcomed warmly by Perrine and Thibault. We even got to choose our emplacement. The entire domain is just wonderful. Chickens, a horse and a donkey and a cute dog, a beautiful castle and amazingly organized by Perrine and Thibault. We just stayed for one night and wished we could stay longer. We are definitely recommending this hidden gem and will return!

Had fantastic time, the hosts were great, very helpful and welcoming. The facilities are great. It’s a perfect place to relax and unwind. The chickens, donkey and horse were good fun and helped to give the place a character of its own

This is an incredible campsite. Thibault and Perrine were amazing hosts. The site is stunning, amenities were amazing and the pool was superb. Without doubt the best campsite we have stayed at.

Unfortunately ended up being last to the site for the day so got lumbered with a pitch in a dip on a slope. When the weather turned bad the wind blew the rain straight into our tent lashing it and the water simply drained in. A soggy stay despite trying to secure the tent to minimise water in.
Facilities fair - though 2 showers and 2 loos for so many felt crowded. Great swimming pool.
Food nights a great idea - though the fact you were not permitted to bring your own wine and therefore have to purchase (with mark up) felt a little tight.

This campsite went straight to the top of the list of all the campsites, we have been to. We’re travelling with three kids and a big Nordisk tent, that takes up a lot of space, but this place has enough space for everyone!
The surroundings are beautiful with the old castle as the “service building,” the swimmingpool offers a refreshing swim for little ones and all others, the chickens, the horse, and the donkey give it all a farmer’s vibe, and the couple running it all, Perrine and Thibault along with their kids, are just extremely down to earth, welcoming, warm, and helpful folks.
We stayed for a week and already had our next stay planned, but otherwise we would’ve prolonged our stay. We’re definitely returning as soon as possible!

This is the best site I’ve ever stayed at, where to start! The grounds are lovely, the swimming pool is set amongst trees and is very inviting. Excellent facilities and our hosts catered for every need. Loved the option to dine communally, there’s such a great vibe at the chateaux 🌞

We absolutely loved camping at the Chateau. Thibault and Perrine went out our their way to ensure that everyone had what they needed, to include making a bakery run every morning! In the evenings, they made everyone feel like family......and for those of us who were in the area for the 80th anniversary of D-Day, they waded through the local bureaucracy, to acquire a necessary sticker for access to events. We can speak highly enough about our experience there.

Chateau Montreville was a fitting end to our camping holiday. We had one night stay and the munchkins and us had the most amazing stay. Such an idyllic location and experience all round spoilt by the hospitality of our hosts and their children. We struggled to get our
Kids away because they were having the most amazing time. Thank you for all the exceptional facilities, kitchen, toilets as well as all the sport equipments for the kids. The location is perfect for cycling or trail runs to the local town Isigny-sur-Mer. We were also met a few folks taking part in the D Day commemoration. We hope to come back and stay again. I had such a magical time here! I’ve wanted to visit for so long, but I’m worried that I wouldn’t be able to visit without a car. I am so glad I committed to my first bikepacking trip to camp here - the 32km bike ride from Bayeux through Surrain is so beautiful and pastoral (recommend taking the advice of local bike shops/tourism board over Google maps). The facility itself is practically glamping, with hot showers, refrigerators, a microwave, and fire pits for anyone who would like to use one. My only regret was that I was too sleepy when I arrived to watch the chickens, so I’ll have to go back - I’ve already sold some people on a trip through Normandy from the pictures alone. Above all, the hosts are so friendly, generous and kind, and very eco-conscious, which I really appreciated. Truly a séjour inoubliable :)

My family and I loved this camping site. The hosts are very welcoming and the site is wonderful. There was so much to do for our four kids that we easily could have spent a whole week there. Whenever we make our way out there next time, we will certainly stay there again. Oh and the views are beautiful! I highly recommend it to everyone.

Lovely stay in the castle garden. It is quiet, there is plenty of space for each tent, beautiful views of the Normandie countryside. There is also a lovely swimming pool that invites for quiet relaxing. The bathrooms and other amenities are excellent, best bread delivered at the site. We will definitely come back.

The magic of this charming campsite is irresistible. It feels like a hidden retreat full of like-minded people. The wine tasting, BBQ and chicken night brought people together. Lovely spacious, peaceful & classy campsite. No cars near pitches mean even young kids are safe to roam freely. Hosts are friendly, helpful and well organised. Facilities are always clean. Bakery delivery, meal nights and a very pleasant pool made our stay even more special. All in all, a very relaxing and very cool campsite.

This campsite is just lovely - we were there for only five nights and wish it could have been longer.
Spacious site with great facilities in the gorgeous grounds of a chateau with fascinating history - and very friendly chickens!
The food evenings are fantastic - tasty food, well organised and in a great setting.
Thank you Perrine and Thibault - you are brilliant hosts and your vision and passion for ensuring everyone has a great stay is clear.

A wonderful, relaxing and very green site, with lovely friendly owners. Loved the bread fairy (and possibly ate a few to many croissants...) and the swimming pool. Great facilites and gorgeous location.

A top highlight of a trip I took in 2019!!
Paul and Zoe are the type of people that you would love to have as your everyday neighbors at home, rather than owners.
They work extra hard to make sure everyone is have an enjoyable time at their Chateau. Thanks for the lifetime great memories.
I stayed a few nights and I hope to return some day.

Probably the best campsite I've been at. Beautiful location with swallows flying over head and bats at night, beautiful pool perfect for kids. Stones throw from beautiful beaches and fantastic hosts - couldn't ask for more

My girlfriend and I stayed here for a week and had an incredible time. The campsite is so peaceful and set in a beautiful location. The facilities inside the chateau were brilliant. Loved getting our morning baguettes and pastries. And LOVED Mungo the cat. Already planning our return visit.

What a special place. We spent a wonderful week at Chateau Monfreville and loved every minute. You get the best of both worlds, camping in such a peaceful, unspoilt location, with the benefits of lovely showers and delicious food. Not to mention the swimming pool and last but not least the wonderful owners. We will be back!!

Just returned from an absolutely delightful stay at Le Chateau de Monfreville. Everything you want from a campsite. Brilliant relaxed hosts including the bread fairy, great facilities which were well maintained and all in a beautiful setting. Couldn't ask for better. We stayed for 5 days to tour around Normandy by car & bike, enjoyed both the pizza night and moules & frites night that were put on by hosts Paul & Zoe, both of which I can highly recommend and ended up being some of the highlights of our trip. Toured to Isigny, Omaha, Grandcamp Maisey & The German cemetery all of which are close by as well as a trip to Mont Saint Michel but it was always lovely to get back to the chateau for a full on relax (either round the pool & hot tub or just soaking up the natural surroundings. By the way coming from London the sky at night is amazing with no light pollution whatsoever. Shout out to Zoe for the apricot jam & the warm hospitality of excellent hosts. Everything was just perfect. If you're planning on being in the area I can't recommend it enough.

Stayed at the incredible Chateau de Monfreville for 3 nights recently and had a brilliant time - the facilities are first rate and the owners Zoe and Paul have thought of just about everything. We were there for the pizza night and the moules et frites night where everyone on the campsite joined together in the big barn to eat and listen to live music. You even have breakfast delivered to your tent every morning! The pitches are relatively private and the lack of cars on the campsite itself makes a huge difference. Brilliant!

We all loved this site, even our 17-yr old reluctant camper. The kids loved le ping-pong, hot tub and swimming pond. We loved the friendly laid-back atmosphere, beautiful setting & really nicely done showers, toilets & washing up facilities. The food they provide is a touch of genius, a real treat not having to cook & wash up with a great big campsite social thrown in & all very reasonably priced. Tonnes to do in the region for all ages & interests. Will definitely go again.

This was our our second year at the Château ,last year was perfect and it was if anything even better this year.everything was wonderful and so many things set it appart from your usual French site.The showers more of a power than the usual push button on continental sites.The animals that you can feed a real treat for anyone with kids.The informality of the camping pitches add to the charm just pick your favourite free spot.Paul and Zoe really make everyone's stay special and you are more of a friend than a guest.Everything they do adds to the experience the little things you can't do on the cooking stove the moules and chip night ,chicken Sundays and the marvellous new wood fired pizza oven made from the old Château boiler provides the best pizza I've had ever.Rural enough for peace and quiet but close enough for all Normandy has to offer.Will we be returning next year,just try and stop us!My rating is 5 star only because I can't give it a 6 !

This was by far the favourite campsite we stayed at on our ten day tour of France. The chateau and grounds are stunning, facilities excellent and Zoe and Paul were so welcoming and hospitable. We have already recommended Monfreville to our friends and family and we will definitely be back!
