Wyldewood Retreat

Wyldewood Glamping is a lovely exclusive-hire site in Sussex, set in a seven-acre woodland. Part of what makes it so great are the facilities: table tennis, a slackline, and a hot tub among them. And the best bit? You don’t have to share them—and you won’t have to queue for the loo either. You'll have the entire place to yourselves, with space for two to sleep in a shepherd’s hut and for four more in an emperor bell tent.

Wyldewood is perfect for a family who want a glamping getaway with an extra couple (or couple of kids) in tow. It also works for a small group getaway with a handful of friends. Whoever you come here with, chances are, you won’t get bored. Kids will be happy bouncing about in a cargo net suspended in the trees, hours can be whiled away mastering the slackline or playing table tennis. And when evening falls, chatting around the campfire is a great way to end the day—plus there’s always a soak in the hot tub.

The top spot to sleep is arguably the shepherd’s hut, with its fold-down bed, wood burner, and galley kitchen. The big boho bell tent is the extra family-style accommodation: with a double bed and two singles. Ablutions are in another shepherd’s hut and very nice too. In fact it’s all very nice too: beds are made, towels provided, there’s charcoal for the barbecue and logs for the fire.

Let’s not forget where you are either. This woodland in the High Weald is full of wildlife, including deer, and bluebells cover the floor in spring. Just being here might be the break you need but there are countryside walks straight from your doorstep and a pub within walking distance too. Beyond the hyper local options, Sussex sights and attractions, including the sea, offer temptation to explore further afield. But, really, we feel this is a place to simply bed in and enjoy.
