Given its proximity to London, Kelvedon Hatch Campsite has a strikingly rural feel. Located close to both the M25 and the A12, it's undeniably accessible for Londoners, yet seems miles away from the city in terms of ambience. Tucked in a peaceful corner of the countryside just outside the pretty village of Kelvedon Hatch, the site is almost entirely surrounded by mature trees and tied to the neighboring golf course via a tiny stream that wriggles its way southeast towards Brentwood. The nearest neighbour is a horse riding school – a true sign you're out of the city if ever there was one.
The campsite itself has excellent facilities throughout, with modern washrooms, washing machines, Wi-Fi, a children's play area and more, and boasts two Ready Camp safari tents set in their own private area. Each comes complete with everything the lazy camper (or serious glamper) needs: two bedrooms with proper beds and space to sleep four people or a family of six in comfort; a kitchenette with a hob, fridge and microwave and plenty of storage; and a comfy sofa and dining area that extends to a verandah outside – perfect for sipping a glass of wine and listening to the birds.
Kelvedon Hatch itself is an interesting little place, an ancient village that is perhaps best-known for the fact that it was home to Britain's largest and deepest nuclear bunker during the Cold War – now a museum dedicated to its Cold War history. Beyond the village, Brentwood, just 4 miles away, is of course the home of TOWIE, and worth a visit for just that.
