With little in the way of mod cons, it’s just you and the great outdoors
Batteries in need of a little recharging? A stay at Clippenham Camping is just what the doctor ordered. With little in the way of mod cons (no electricity and mercifully no caravans), it’s just you and the great outdoors. No campsite killjoys these, Clippenham Camping positively encourages visitors to build shelters, start fires and explore the vast expanse of the East Sussex countryside. There are several pitches located in the ample fields and a couple in the surrounding woodland. This truly is a feast for the senses – keep your eyes and ears peeled for the morning starlings, the hooting of barn owls at dusk and the gentle babbling of Clippenham stream located at the bottom of the weald. If the sheer beauty of your surroundings doesn’t make you come over all meditative, perhaps the treatments on offer in the pamper tent will awaken your inner hippy…

Nearby attractions

There's a host of great walking routes which meander out directly from the farm. Explore the surrounding woodland and the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Summer fairs take place in the picturesque village of Cowbeech in July and August. A five minute drive away, you'll find the historic village of Herstmonceux. Besides its historic windmill, visitors flock the Observatory Science Centre and the Tudour opulence of Hertmonceux Castle. The nearest beach is also just a 15 minute drive away.

Food and drink
With liberally placed firepits on site, you’ll be keen to cook your own. Some local produce is available from the Clippenham reception, including meat from the farm’s own cattle.

The Merrie Harriers in Cowbeech is a beautiful 16th century timber-beamed inn. It serves up the best of East Sussex produce and there's a fine selection of ales to be had in their spacious beer garden.
