Lower Hewood is a small 45 acre regenerative organic farm tucked into the rolling hills of West Dorset, just 20 minutes from the beach and 30 minutes from the thriving market town of Bridport. Our limited camping pitches are spread out across three fields, with the sites mown into the surrounding organic wildflower meadows. We have very simple facilities in the field, with a further shower and flushing toilet for use in the farmhouse courtyard. We welcome guests who appreciate the calm, escapism and natural beauty of the area, with walks throughout the farm, and a public footpath heading up to our local shop in the picturesque village of Thorncombe.

Wild Meadow Camping at Lower Hewood

Escape to a simple, peaceful campsite on our small regenerative organic farm in the rolling hills of West Dorset. With just eight spacious pitches spread across an organic meadow, there's plenty of room to slow down, enjoy the views and reconnect with nature. Wake to birdsong, spend the day exploring the Jurassic Coast or nearby market towns, then return for an evening around the campfire beneath some of Dorset's darkest skies. Facilities are intentionally simple. We provide a composting toilet, outdoor hot shower, and washing-up area, keeping everything low impact and in keeping with the farm. Lower Hewood is managed using regenerative and permaculture farming principles, with healthy soils, diverse grasslands and wildlife at the heart of what we do. Depending on the time of year you may see sheep grazing nearby, wildflowers in bloom and an abundance of birds and insects. Whether you're walking, cycling, exploring the coast or simply looking for a quiet place to unwind, we hope you'll feel at home here.
