Within a 60-minute drive from the North Cascades National Park Complex Headquarters and Visitor Information.

Wide open fields, ponds, and gardens to explore. We grow lavender, herbs, lots of flowers, and trees. We have a panoramic view of the Canadian mountains and the wooded valley below. We never get tired of the scenery and agree that home is our vacation spot. We are happy to share this little slice of paradise with tent travelers and look forward to meeting folks from far and wide. We offer a large flat lawn area that can accommodate a couple of tents and for those who love more solitude there are plenty of places to pitch a tent in the fields. There is a flat picnic area with tables and a barbeque. For the competitive types we offer an old fashioned horse shoe toss. For the plant lovers just a walk through the garden looking at all of the plants and flowers is enjoyable. There is a huge old maple tree with a tree swing. We are about 3 miles from Birch Bay National Park, water slides, beach combing, bike riding or just waiting for the sunset. For the motorcyclists, there are endless roads to travel from Birch Bay to Mt. Baker, Sumas, and Chuckanut Dr. Lynden and Bellingham are within 20 miles of us, Ferndale and Blaine, and the Canadian border are less than 10 miles. We offer an indoor kitchen and bathroom plus a community room in case of bad weather stocked with games and videos. The kitchen has ample room to prepare meals, cook, and clean up. There is a microwave available and refrigerator to keep food cold and safe from the heat. Also, for just a little bit of home there is a Keurig Coffee pot and plenty of pods to help get you going in the morning. The bathroom is small but has a shower and toilet and is stocked with towels. We are on a septic tank and ask that everyone reads and abides by the rules. Back In Thyme Shop offers a variety of handmade soaps, herbal salves, lotions, and insect repellants as well as handmade quilts and travel bags.

Vista View

The lawn is lovely!

Back in Thyme is a super lovely place to camp - the garden is gorgeous, we ate blackberries, and saw bunnies. Patty and Dennis were delightful hosts and the kitchen and bathroom were great! And gliding through the summer evening air on the big tree swing, looking out over the fields and mountains in the sunset glow was delicious!

Accommodating and peaceful

Patty and Dennis were welcoming and accommodating, helping me find the flatest spot to park for using our roof top tent. Kitchen and bathroom were nice and clean. Beautiful sunset from the yard.

Cozy Corner

A True 5-Star Site

People give 5 star reviews on Hipcamp way more often than they are deserved. But this site truly deserves it. Welcoming hosts, quiet tent sites, a bathroom with shower, a kitchen. Patty even offered me delicious looking muffins in the morning. My only gripe was that the hot water lasted just a minute or two in the shower. The hosts are aware of this, but the water heater is apparently tiny.

Lawn camping

Tent camping on Patty’s lawn was great! Loved the flowers, swing and view from the tent. It was very convenient to have a small full kitchen, shower and toilet next to the site too! The location is great for exploring the cascade mountains. We did hear the train go by most of the night.

Stepping Back in Thyme

Patty and Dennis’s place exceeded my expectations and I didn’t want to leave. The gardens are lovely. There is lots of choice where to pitch a tent. Patty’s workshop has a bathroom, shower and a kitchen! A clean functional charming space. I highly recommend staying there and hope to again. Easy to access off I 5.
