Cleghorn Farm is a mixed farm just north east of the market town of Lanark. Comprised of 250 acres of fields and woodland and bounded to the south by Mouse Water, it is a beautiful spot to get away from it all without having to leave it all behind if you don't want to. The fields are grazed and cultivated but the woodlands are much as they were at the end of the last ice age with spectacular walks along Cleghorn Glen with the chance to see badgers, bats, deer and all manner of birds among the towering pine and beech trees.
The Mouse Water (pronounced moose) tumbles down along the edge of the farm and has some glorious pools for swimming, shallows for paddling and some spectacular water falls before it joins the River Clyde.

Loch Lomond Sunset Pod lies just to the west of Croftamie Village and is only a couple of miles south of Drymen. The Sunset Pod is within a National Scenic Area and The Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park, Scotland’s first National Park. It is surrounded by rolling Stirlingshire countryside and hills and is approached via its long private, and gated, drive off a quiet country road.
When you reach the pod, on the left side of the front door there is a key safe box (details will be sent on your booking) for self-check-in, just put the code in to access the keys to the pod and enjoy your stay admiring amazing mountains views. And if you are lucky, a deer may pay you a surprising visit.
If you are a smoker, we kindly ask you to only smoke outside of the glamping pod within the gazebo area, where an ashtray is provided.

Our Huts are located within the Moss Wood area of Bute Forest - a mixed birch and alder wood that extends up the hillside to the west of the A886 that connects the Rhubodach Ferry to Port Bannatyne and Rothesay.
Moss Wood has a range of facilities. Park on the shore-side where the coast can be enjoyed or at the main entrance, and take a walk up through Moss Wood along the Poetry Trail. A steep walk in places, the Poetry Trail is a loop punctuated with places to stop and read, to stop and think. Read nature poetry from throughout the ages, stop at the Blether Stane, or taking the spur to the Viewing Point back south across the Kyles.
Moss Wood connects to the West Island Way – take the Poetry Trail and the spur to the Viewing Point – and then take the Stag’s Trod further up (steeply) till you reach the West Island Way. From there, head south towards Port Bannatyne or north along the boundary of the Community Forest. From the viewing point, you can also explore interesting heritage features such as the old WW2 bunker, kayak shelter, Balnakailly settlement, and the SSSI oak woodland.

St. Conan's Escape was such a beautiful area to disappear into! The property manager, Hazel, did such a phenomenal job of preparing the space--it was so beautifully-decorated and clearly well-maintained that I could see this as the perfect experience for other solo travelers or couples looking for a beautiful location to sink into.
I found St. Conan's Escape when looking for a place to go off-grid for a couple of days in the midst of traveling, and it had everything I needed--all of the amenities including plenty of cookware, a bathroom and extremely comfortable bed, so that I could focus on my writing projects. What a beautiful scenery it's in, too! I woke up to a beautiful sunrise over the mountains in the distance and I was so sad to leave such a majestic view. I would absolutely return and recommend it to anyone looking for a new experience!

Loved our first pod experience. Very warm and cozy. Facilities were great! Directions were a little confusing at the start as the sat-nav took us to the house a little distance up the road but once we knew our place it was absolutely fine.

We loved the cabin. Spacious and we slept very well. The best shower ever! The campsite has wonderful views and is well maintained. We used the bbq and fire pit. The barn is well equipped for cooking and relaxing. Angus is a wonderful host. Definitely would return to Muiredge when in Scotland!

Caroline was fantastic! She made the check-in and check out so easy and ensured our comfort throughout, and the yurt and its facilities were perfect! This place is a gem!
External cooking facilities were great, as was the wood fired hot tub!....perfect for a just needed getaway!
Would certainly stay here again and again!...the yurts décor and cleanliness was exceptional.
Top tip...order the pizza oven...its really worth it.

I loved my 4 night break in the Bramble Yurt. The yurt was clean and cosy. I did have the stove burner on due to the weather being so good. The bathroom shed was clean and fresh. The fridge was a god send considering the temperature reach a high of 27 degrees. I had a relaxing time sitting in the fresh air watching the wild life and the world go by. I would highly recommend Organic Welltree. I shall definitely go back. I wish to thanks them for my time at Kirkland.

Very friendly staff. Easy to find. Great facilities. Lovely walks right at back of premises.
Only downside for me was the noise off other campers. People turning up and setting stuff up after 10 pm. Also loud group of lads. But I’m use to wild camping so maybe noise would be acceptable for most.

These pods are lush. There’s everything you’ll need (except bedding for the sofa bed - which is absolutely fine). It’s a beautiful location too. There were a few little bottles of wine on the table when we arrived, which was a lovely touch. Would definitely recommend.

Where to go
New Lanark
From its visitor center, you can explore the complex of cotton mills that formed the model community of New Lanark. It’s also the gateway to the Falls of Clyde Wildlife Reserve, which has a network of trails for viewing spectacular waterfalls and wildlife including badgers, otters and more than 100 bird species. Just a 15-minute drive north of New Lanark, Clyde Valley Caravan Park is mostly used for holiday homes and static caravans but also has room for motorhomes, caravans and tents.
Covington
The 25-mile (40-kilometer) Lanark, Tinto and Covington cycle route takes you along country roads, through rural landscapes and Lanarkshire’s best scenery. At the end of the route, Covington is an attractive hamlet of thatched cottages. A few miles east of Covington, Biggar Caravan Park has pitches for caravans, tourers and tents.
Douglas
A 20-minute drive south of Lanark, the village of Douglas has historical significance, due to its association with the Lords of Douglas. You can soak up the area’s history on the 3.5-mile (5.6-kilometer) Douglas Historic Walking Route, which takes you along ancient streets and into the surrounding countryside. Four miles (6.4 kilometers) northeast of Douglas, Collierhall Farm is a tranquil campsite set on a small working farm with grass and hardstanding pitches for motorhomes and caravans.
When to go
For the best chance of good weather, mid-summer, from June through August, is the ideal time to visit Lanark, and the entire Central Lowland region. This is also a lovely time to explore the Clyde Valley, which is carpeted in wildflowers during the spring and summer, and the Falls of Clyde Wildlife Reserve. If you’re passing through on your way to begin the West Highland Way, which begins nearby, spring or autumn is best for avoiding crowds.

- Wild camping is allowed throughout Scotland, as long as you follow the Scottish Outdoor Access Code.
- The weather in Scotland is always changeable, even in summer. Come prepared with warm, waterproof clothing.
- Bus services connect Lanark to the surrounding area, as well as Glasgow. Lanark railway station also provides links to several destinations including Glasgow.
- You’ll find a choice of supermarkets in the town center.
