The bus service is fine and now includes Sundays so enjoy the city with its quirky independent shops if that's your thing.

Preservation of this precious chalk grassland with its outrageously abundant summer meadow flowers is a priority for us. See the orchids in July.. Welcome guests who share that appreciation. We also care about food security and planted a top fruit orchard with walnuts and cobnuts too! Nature spontaneously provides blackberries, sloes.. which are shared. The Barn Owl have their own boxes (although they still enjoy the big barn) and skylarks sing high above the tussocky terrain. Come join them! Even if your singing isn't so good.

We had a wonderful stay. We arrived quite late, yet Evie was incredibly kind and still met us in person, even helping us with our luggage, which we really appreciated. The farm setting was a highlight - we were free to roam around, feed the chickens, and our little toddler absolutely loved jumping on the trampoline.
The cottage itself is beautifully secluded, giving us complete peace and privacy, and it truly had everything one could ask for, even a dishwasher in the kitchen. We especially enjoyed spending the evening by the firepit on the deck.
If you love hiking, there are plenty of great trails in the area as well. Highly recommend and can’t wait for our next stay.

First of al Mark is a real gentleman and a great man. We stayed as wel in the granery as in the treehouse. Both are realy beautiful places to stay. The granary has more luxure and specialy the woodburner in wintertime is lovely. The treehouse is les luxery but a great cosy place to spend the night.

The cabin was homely, warm and comfy. Plenty of logs provided for the burner. The hot tub is surrounded by trees and when the stars come out a lovely place to wallow. Nice country pub on doorstep. Would recommend.

Highly recommend, my partner and I had a great time at Finlay’s cabin. It was exactly what we were looking for in terms of: how remote & private it was, outdoor and indoor fire & the hot tub! We also loved the unique structure and authentic feel… however a few things to note, for the cost per night(£180) I would expect: body wash & shampoo / hairdryer, better kitchen essentials, the coffee left was almost empty for example and old stuff was left in the fridge& top shelf was left completely wet.. I know it’s ‘small’ things but for the price you’d expect these things to be attended to.. for us we didn’t mind too much, but would have made the experience a lot nicer to have these things to improve the overall feel and experience. Also I felt that in terms of cleanliness, it could have been cleaner, many cobwebs & spiders, hair and dirt in the bath tub, messy outdoor porch area; we wanted to use the outdoor bbq and had to clean it very well ourselves.. for the price you would expect it to be clean and ready to use with coals etc however we had to make do with the indoor logs with no fire starter as only option was the chemical indoor one which we didn’t want to use to cook food on.. making it difficult. The hotub area is lovely, however we wanted to use it at night which proved difficult as no outdoor lightning, and indoor torch didn’t work.. some lanterns outside would be a great addition. Duncan was a kind host and has a very special plot!

We had a really lovely stay in the Bustard Hut. It was peaceful, quaint, and beautifully designed. The interior was unique and thoughtfully put together, and the hut had great facilities considering its limited kitchen space.
The little touches like the marshmallows, bread, and condiments were very much appreciated.
The only downsides were that the hut wasn’t quite as private as it appeared in the pictures, as we could see and be seen by the neighbouring hut from the hot tub, which wasn’t quite what we imagined. Also, there weren’t any trolleys available on arrival, so there was a lot of back and forth with bags since you can’t park next to the hut.
A few things that would be useful to have are some barbecue tools and maybe a fire mitt, as we had to use kitchen utensils to manage the fire. Overall, we had a lovely stay and really enjoyed the thoughtful touches throughout.

If you're looking for a peaceful & private retreat, this hidden gem is the perfect place to stay. We were warmly welcomed by Evie and daughter as soon as we arrived, even though it was a very wet & windy evening. Cottage Orne is cosy & comfortable with great views. Only natural sounds were to be heard including owls. After a day out walking with the dog in the beautiful surrounding countryside, it was lovely to be able to return & sit out on the decking, relax and warm yourself around the firepit. The fairy lights added a magical touch. The fenced cottage garden is ideal for those with dogs and having the freedom to access the extensive grounds was an unexpected treat. Weekend Trip to Elham Treehouse
We had a truly wonderful stay in the Granary! Mark is the loveliest host we have ever met. Everything felt so genuine and welcoming. The cabin had everything we could possibly need, and the bed was extremely comfortable. Even though I am heavily pregnant, climbing up was no problem at all as the ladder is very sturdy 🌝
We loved our cosy evenings by the fire and sunny breakfasts in the little garden, enjoying Mark’s delicious homemade bread and jam. The setting is green, peaceful, and full of good vibes with friendly little robins, cats and dogs keeping us company.
We also enjoyed lovely walks in the area, a visit to the nearby village, and a tasty meal at the local pub. It was exactly the perfect getaway we were hoping for.

We stayed at Cottage Orne for the August bank holiday weekend and so glad we booked it. Evie was amazing and always available if needed and our kids loved playing with the new puppies. We had a wonderful stay at the cabin over the Easter holiday. It was warm, cosy, and tastefully decorated,.There’s a BBQ area outside so we had a lovely BBQ. Mark was incredibly nice. he brought us fresh bread every morning, which was absolutely delicious! When it was time to leave, he even gave us a lift to Canterbury. Such a thoughtful gesture. Overall, it was a fantastic experience and I’d highly recommend it to everyone!

We came for a family birthday getaway at the end of Feb. The hut is private but there is a two person hut reasonably nearby. The Shephards hut has everything you need outside and in, regardless of weather. We had moments eating out in the sun, then a brief hail shower and rainbow in the hot tub. One night was so clear we spent the evening star gazing from the hot tub. There is a farm and wild bird sanctuary nearby so an abundance of wild life throughout the day. Kites, peacocks, buzzards, peasants, deer etc. We did several local walks but the best for the kids was the farm > wood walk, which had a hidden wood swing too. The hosts were quick to help when we needed it and the location was very picturesque. It was a perfect birthday escape. We'd love to come back and see it in the summer!
