Absolutely loved camping at The Old Airfield. Very friendly staff and helpful. Loads of space to park up and tent so you'll never feel 'on top' of other campers. Lovely vibe, clean showers and toilets.
Had a nice bar and pizza trailer on site too to order from every night.
Very relaxing and loads of free roaming animals near by! Definitely will be coming back!

We loved our time at Teddy’s Farm. It has big, spacious fields and good facilities. There was a coffee/ cocktail bar, a pizza place that cooked fresh, good priced pizza on the spot and a breakfast van. Teddy was very friendly and helpful. He was accommodating even though we pitched up in the wrong place accidentally. The kids loved it. On the first field it can get a bit dusty when cars drive by, but the big field at the back of the farm isn't affected by this. There are lots of great trails and forest walks nearby, short drive away is the Tall Trees Trail which is beautiful. You can also walk to the forest from the farm if you don’t want to drive. Thank you, Teddy!

Our stay at Teddys was perfect for me and my partner to switch off, play some cards, cook some food on a fire and stare at the stars in the night (must see)! And Teddy and the boys were very helpful whenever we needed any assistance.

Firstly, the location - yes it’s a cool old WWII airbase! Loads of room to pitch your tent without feeling like you are encroaching on your neighbours. It’s well kept and very clean. The toilets were clean and so were the showers. There’s food (fresh pizza, pastries, etc) and drinks (a coffee / cocktail bar) on site and I thought the prices were reasonable. The staff are friendly and the place had a nice vibe. We took our dog and although she had to be kept on a lead on site, there is plenty of space close by to let her off. if you like camping and are looking to get back to basics, with a few luxuries close by, you can’t go wrong. Beautiful Mudeford is a short drive so there’s plenty to do if you want to venture out. Overall we really liked it. It was just me and my partner this time but we’ve just decided to go back in a few days, this time with the children.

Beach camping in Savernake Forest guide
When to go
These woodlands are photo-ready at any time of year. Visit in spring when bluebells and wildflowers blanket the forest floor, or in fall when the autumn leaves transform the trees into a sea of red, yellow, and orange. Summer (July-Aug) weekends can get busy—make an early start to avoid the crowds and snag a picnic bench. The trails can get muddy when it rains, so wellies or hiking boots are a good idea.
Know before you go
- Savernake Forest is located about a 10-minute drive south of Marlborough along the A346. The main entrance is at Postern Hill at the northwest end of the park, where free parking is available.
- There is no entrance fee to visit the forest.
- The forest has picnic and barbecue areas, and restrooms (open from Easter through October only). There are no other facilities within the park, so bring everything you need with you.
- There are some paved paths in the forest that are accessible for wheelchairs and pushchairs.
