Where to go

Peak District National Park

Recognized as the United Kingdom’s first national park, Peak District National Park stretches approximately 1,438 square kilometres and is home to parts of Derbyshire, Cheshire, Staffordshire, and South Yorkshire. Cycling, climbing, and caving are enjoyed throughout the seasons with the infamous Kinder Scout plateau challenging its visitors to a 7.5-mile circular trail of unforgettable landscapes. With countless on-site and private camping areas in the park, campers can retire after a busy day at traditional pitches with firepits, caravan parks, glamping rentals, bell tents, or unique North Lees Campground’s camping pods. Wild camping is not permitted in the park without permission from private land owners.

Yorkshire Dales National Park

Nestled north of Edale, Yorkshire Dales National Park highlights the diverse beauty of Northern England’s valleys, hills, and moors. Visit waterfalls, such as Aysgarth Falls, and gorges like Gordale Scar, as well as intricate cave systems with unique limestone in its caves and karst landscapes. Then, take the Three Peaks Challenge and aim to summit Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside, and Ingleborough in a day, or hop on horseback through miles of moorlands. The park offers a variety of camping accommodations, as well, including family-run working farm campsites, cottage rentals, glamping pods, and private holiday parks.

Less than two hours west of Edale, the area boasts biodiversity with geological lands dating back to the Palaeolithic period. Stay on-site at one of many camping and caravan parks, but be sure to check the details as only some sites offer electrical hookups and potable water for motorhomes. Fell running, horseback riding, and kayaking are enjoyed throughout the day, while dark sky stargazing around the campfire is popular by night.
