A quiet horse ranch located 1,000 feet from the BLM Offroad Trailhead, offering mountain views in three directions, hiking trails, and hilltops within walking distance. Hundreds of Indian petroglyphs are just 3–4 miles up the offroad trail, easily reachable by any 4x4 vehicle with at least 6–8 inches of ground clearance. Popular 4x4 trails are available for SxS, ATV, UTV, and dirt bikes.

Great place, great people! Cory is truly one of the most hospitable and friendly people you could ever meet. He set up the fire for us before we arrived, lent us his fishing rod, and even showed us the beautiful route to the private lake. He also shared his amazing biking skills with my son, which made the experience even more memorable. The night we spent there was peaceful and quiet, and the place had everything we needed—water, a bathroom, and all the conveniences you could hope for.

Directions clear, found the site after dark without issue. Cory is responsive and provides a welcoming site. Site has two well placed trees to provide natural shade for the tent. Site is fenced in, with a swing close gate - provides peace of mind for those with kids. Plenty of space, we fit a 10 person and a canopy with space for likely 1-2 more tents.
We biked to the lake, very tucked location, not public access, so had it to ourselves. Great view of the distant mountains. Fish may be smarter than us as we only managed a small tilapia, but the lake is lively with plenty of fish jumping out along the shore line.
Portable bathroom was pristinely clean, one of the best we’ve seen.
Site is well kept, we look forward to returning and seeing what else Cory can do with the place!
Most importantly - Cory is a phenomenal host - welcoming, helpful, and laid back. Especially welcoming and willing to help with anything we needed - he went above and beyond to make our weekend trip great. Absolutely recommend this site!

Best decision we made on our trip. We were here for spring training baseball but didn’t want to tent camp on BLM land due to concerns of thieves and bad actors, we also heard horror stories about other “campgrounds” in the area that are loud and rowdy throughout the night … We got so lucky picking Sunset Nook.
Cory was a great host! Lots of amenities (water, toilet, bbq and chairs) Cory protected our things while we were away and gave us our space while we were there. The lake is just a small walk away and offers beautiful views of mountains and wildlife

Where to go
Marne Valley
South of Reims, the vine-clad slopes of the Montagne de Reims Regional Natural Park provide a verdant backdrop for hiking and biking. From here, the Marne River winds its way west through the Marne Valley, leading the way to family-run vineyards, fairy-tale châteaux, and the Champagne villages of Hautvillers, Châtillon-sur-Marne, and Château-Thierry.
Champagne Tourist Route
The official Champagne Tourist Route comprises six different marked trails totaling more than 370 miles and linking the region’s principal wine-growing regions, Champagne cellars, and vineyards. Stop off in Epernay to stroll down the Avenue de Champagne, sip Chardonnay in the Côte des Blancs, then cycle through the green vales of the Côte de Bar.
Ardennes Regional Natural Park
Just an hour’s drive north of Reims, the wooded hills and untamed countryside of the Ardennes Regional Natural Park are peppered with WWI and WWII battlefields, sleepy rural villages, and rocky cliffs. Mountain bike enthusiasts will be in their element here, but you can also hike the hilltops, explore natural caves, and camp out in the wilderness.
When to go
Summer, especially July-Aug, brings huge crowds to Reims, and it’s worth timing your visit for the quieter (and cheaper) months of spring or fall instead. Speaking of fall, this is harvest time at the region’s many Champagne vineyards and the ideal time for tasting. The main camping season runs from April through October, but don’t be put off by a winter visit—Reims Christmas markets are rightly popular, and seasonal snowfall renders the city even more magical.
