Not many trees but you could hang a hammock on the gazebo if you do the electric/water hookup campground. Not really any hiking, but the springs are SO fantastic, and if you're looking for a nearby daytrip there is Monahans Sand Dunes and Fort Davis Mountains relatively close!

One of my favorite places I've camped! The natural, spring-fed pool is unlike anything I've ever seen. Definitely give the diving board a-go, and goggles or a snorkel are helpful for fish-watching. We went in late February and the water was a refreshing 80 degrees or so which the water stays at year-round. Dogs must remain on-leash in the state park, but there is a nice walking trail along a stream that leads to a wildlife viewing area with a glass viewing area to see under the water as well. It's a super kid-friendly campground, avoid weekends if you like peace and quiet! Park rangers were very friendly and helpful.

Made a pit stop here on the way to NM, the water was clear and is exactly the color you see in the photos. Like coke glass. There was a few paths to wander and see the undeveloped part of the springs, but you don't stop here for the hiking! Great glimpses of nature, saw a HUGE turtle hanging out in the stream behind the hotel, the resident mascot perhaps? Great place to relax, swim, snorkel and scuba.

If you happen to find yourself traveling along I-10, this desert oasis is definitely worth the stop! With desert in the foreground, mountains in the background and a 25ft deep natural spring fed pool, you can't go wrong! The best time to visit the park is early in the morning when the park is first opening. There are less people and more time to explore the Springs. Don't forget to check out the visitor center and support Texas Parks and Wildlife :)
