Lanthorn is situated just north of Wakefield Quebec surrounded by forest, creeks, waterfalls, and hikes with views of the surrounding area. Our farm grows willow for basketry and living structures. We can also arrange to teach a weaving class for a fee. To learn more about our farm, you can visit Lanthorn.ca. On the property, there is also a large pottery studio which offers classes that you can book in advance of your visit. To do so, you can visit muraiceramique.com for details. We are home to a deer refuge founded in partnership with the Humane Society Canada which cares for a herd of sika deer rescued from a zoo closure. We also raise a small number of chicken, and sheep.

RV parking on level ground with access to power and view of the mountains. Space is next to a pottery studio, ask us about classes if interested, you can book them in advance! Deer refuge on site, surrounded by forest with streams and waterfalls. Ask us about trails. 10 min from wakefield, horse riding, golf. Dogs on site will sometimes be off leash, must be comfortable with friendly dogs. Any pets coming with you must be on leash. Please do not bring reactive dogs.

A writer's haven, the Green Room looks over the refuge and mountains with a cozy library meets rustic cabin vibe. The cabin includes a composting toilet, mini-fridge, and is heated with electric baseboard heater. The couch converts to a very comfortable full-sized bed. While there is no running water, we can provide potable well water in jugs on request. A kettle which can cook eggs, soup, or tea, a toaster, and a press pot are also supplied. There is no access to a shower in colder months but an outdoor shower is available in summer. While the listing officially says two-person max, there is a very little bit of extra floor space that could have a pack-and-play or a child's mattress if you're willing to squeeze. We may be able to provide an extra mattress or toddler potty if needed, just ask! There is no additional fee for young children. Two short steps to front door, not yet wheelchair accessible though we plan to upgrade this so check back if this is a requirement, or let us know if you need one and we will try to prioritize this upgrade.

The Willow Tent
Hi Everyone! Ferme Lanthorn was a dream! Caring,, innovative and what a setting! Hot hot outdoor shower with privacy and a blue tooth speaker, the glamping tents are dreamy and I just cannot say enough!

A perfect stay
The Green Room Bunky
We had such a wonderful time here! Mary made our stay so comfortable and really went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. The bunky is very cozy and perfectly fits two people in my opinion. The property is also gorgeous. So much open space, lots of bird songs, and being around all the animals was a real treat. I captured a couple really beautiful and unique field recordings there as well thanks to the diversity of nature sounds. I can’t wait to come back here!!

Awesome solo writer's retreat!
The Green Room Bunky
The Green Room was the Perfect solo writer's retreat. The room is absolutely beautiful, with dark green walls, gorgeous antique furniture, and charming artwork. Thanks to the electric heating and kettle, I never had to worry about making or maintaining a fire, which left a lot more time and energy to read and write. The lighting was perfect as well, with bright wall sconces to illuminate the room at night, and a bedside lamp for more focused light/reading in bed. Mary and family are very kind and hospitable, and also amazing at respecting boundries!! They took great care of me and the space, even letting me know before they let dogs out in case it would bug me. It felt confident that I would be left in peace as long as I wanted, but also that someone would be around if I needed anything. Even the animals were great. The sheep and goats are very friendly, and good listeners if you find yourself wandering the property at night. The deer are somewhat shyer, but still delightful. The only thing it was missing was running water, but this didn't bother me because I'm used to camping. Frankly, it was much fancier than I had anticipated. The composting toilet was lovely and modern, and came with clear instructions (in a fancy frame to boot). I recommend bringing baby wipes or other gentle dry-bathing material if you're going to do more than two nights.

Winter weekend trip

The Green Room Bunky
I have a wonderful weekend at the Green Bunky! Mary gave me a tour of the farm when I arrived and I got to meet (and even feed!) the deer, goats and sheep. The bunky was cute, cozy and peaceful. I was nice and warm all weekend and it had everything I needed. Mary also gave me some directions for snowshoeing and I had had a great time traipsing around in the woods, checking out the frozen beaver pond and checking out the logging trail. I'm looking forward to coming back next winter!

The Green Room Bunky
I had a lovely stay at the Green Bunky and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for some quiet time surrounded by nature. The Bunky has everything you might need for a short stay and feels very cosy. I particularly enjoyed the quiet, the opportunity to go for a nature walk in the nearby forest, meeting the animals and Mary's kindness and friendliness.

My husband and I camped for the night in our roof top tent. We had such a warm greeting from the hosts and Mary showed us around the property. The property is beautiful. We walked through the woods and up the mountains. The animals were our favourite part of the visit. Overall, it was the perfect 24 hour getaway! And the stars at night were magnificent. It was a clear and cool night. We will be back!

Such a magical place! Lovely view and evening sounds. Animals such as rescue deer, and sheep on site. A small creek nearby adds to the tranquility. Very friendly and welcoming hosts. I’d definitely go back!

Lovely Tent Site on Homestead

The campsite is remote and very quiet, nestled among hills and meadows. It’s the homestead of Mary and Bob, a lovely couple who made us feel at home on their land. We were their first guests and we felt like they’d been hosting campers for years. They provided cold, tasty water for us from their well. We enjoyed meeting their three dogs, very friendly indeed. We stayed four nights and were sad when it came time to leave. We also enjoyed the chickens, sheep, deer, and goats around their farm. We would go back if we were in this part of Canada again. Bravo, Mary and Bob!
