Large area to accommodate our 42 ft fifth wheel. Plenty of room to maneuver. Loved the peacefulness and seeing the horses in the morning. Richard was very friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend this hipcamp!

We stayed one night. Easy access to site with W/E. Three other quests there an plenty of room and privacy. Richard was quick to respond to emails and his wife helped us get settled by guiding us to W/E when we couldn't figure it out. Would stay again.

Will always remember.
This was my first time.. tent camping. Richard and his daughter were the best!! Super gracious host. Kind, generous and polite. We were able to ride the horses. It was beautiful to look at the sky with all the stars at night.

Great family campsite!
This place is so peaceful and quiet! It's within a 10 minute drive to shopping, restaurants and grocery stores. The owners are very nice and have been more than happy to help us first time RV'ers with getting set up. This is a great place for anyone, but I definitely feel like it's really great if you have children.

I booked site #3 for a last minute, close to home get away with my dog for his last trip. Unfortunately the electric cord for the site looked like it had been overheated by a prior camper so I was not comfortable to plug into it. My cord was too short to reach where the level site was, so I had to park much closer in order to use the electric. Had the weather not been so hot requiring the use of the air conditioner it would not have been a big deal. Sadly I was not able to get totally level and my refrigerator was not working so I lost some food. The host was out of town (on a different time zone) so the host took a little longer to respond (understandably). I did speak with his sister-in-law who was very lovely. The location was quiet and the horses were friendly. Overall we enjoyed our time. Site #3 does not have any shade, there is a tree near by you can sit under. There were 2 other campers on the other 2 sites and they were quiet. Overall the location was peaceful and what I needed.

Site 1 (50A full hookup)
Overall it was an OK experience. Host was not around for the weekend so we never got to meet Richard but he was very responsive with my texts about the site. Very pretty landscape with view of horses foraging about and very nice sunsets. Our site #1, one of 3, faced west amd has water, 50amp and sewer but we couldn’t dump because the sewer pipe was a 3” diameter instead of the standard 4” and we didn’t have an adapter. No biggie because we have our own set up at home and can dump at home. I wish the driveway leading to the site was better and needs some grading work as does the site as it was way off level side to side and front to back to the point we had to drive up on blocks because my Motorhome front jacks had the RV front tires about 3 inches off the ground. We probably needed to go up about 5-6 inches but didn’t have enough blocks since we don’t usually need to do that. Having said all the above, I would recommend Oak Creek Horse Farm to anyone that wants to visit the Shelby area unless you have kids because there is nothing really for them to do on-site. I think of Richard would make the changes that I mentioned above, it would improve the RV experience for anyone staying on his farm. We camped her for 4 days in a 36’ Motorhome with slides. I would probably give it a 3-4 out of 5 stars rating.
Site 3 (30A, water, no sewer)
Richard’s place was easy to access and communication was good. We stayed in the spot with 30 amp hookups. There was some challenge in the fact there is no gravel reinforcement to the area so we had issues with our trailer sinking a little after the first night and not remaining level. We would consider coming again but would choose one of the spots with full hookups that are a little further from the house that have a little more privacy.

Wonderful location, beautiful view
We really enjoyed staying on Richard and family’s beautiful property. We came in for a race, only an hour away from Charlotte, arrived earlier than expected, for a four day stay and he was very accommodating. We loved meeting the girls, the dogs and cats and horses and our group of six will be returning when we are in the area. Thanks Richard! Nice meeting you all!

Richard’s land is beautiful…the sunsets are absolutely amazing! We got site 3 and Richard was kind enough to loan us an extra long 30A cable as we chose a spot a little bit further away. Super close to restaurants, shopping, etc. if you are into Geocaching there are tons nearby!!! Extremely relaxing. Would highly recommend!

Peace and quiet at the horse farm
We absolutely loved our 2 night stay with Richard and family. We were on one of the full hookup sites, which was clean and spacious and overlooked the farm and the horses. Richard was friendly and helpful. We all commented on how quiet it was. Only an hour away from home and we will definitely be back.

Exceeded our expectations
Oak Creek Horse Farm worked out so well for us. Richard was excellent with communication and everything was just as described. We stayed at a full service site with a 28' travel trailer, and all services were very solid and well installed. We did need to do some leveling, but the site was peaceful with some morning shade. The farm is 15 minutes from the lovely town center of Shelby. We would definitely stay here again when in the area.

A blessing to me. Forever grateful.
The most beautiful, peaceful farm and the warmest family for a host. I can't say enough good things. Richard is the most helpful, accomodating host and has really gone the extra mile for me and my camping needs. His wife Joy is literally a joy and who I now count as a friend. They're children are amazing and helpful. They will play and entertain my furbabies. I've been so blessed to have been able to stay on this beautiful farm. And I'm forever grateful.
If you seek peace, quiet, beauty, horses and amazing sunsets nightly, this is the spot.
In all honesty, It's the best kept secret I wish could remain a secret.😉 But my hosts generosity with me reminds me that blessings are for everyone. And they and their farm truly are a blessing.💗

A little slice of heaven!
A little slice of heaven!! We went to Charlotte for a Hornets game then headed to the farm. It was late when we got there (thank you Richard for being so accommodating) so we didn’t see much until the morning. What a dreamy way to wake up!! Beautiful scenery and horses! And surprise- there was a basketball court on the edge of the property. Our 3 boys didn’t want to leave!! Oh, and I can’t forget the other campers that were staying at the same time. So kind and helpful when we had a small mechanical issue.
