Our property was originally the only homestead on this road. WE offer 4 Walk in Tent sites and a RV site for small campers up 20 ft.- 20 Amp service Only!!! WE also have a 59 Vintage Shasta that rents nightly up to 3 nites The big barn was built over 100 years ago and is still standing. The farm house was built in 1907. It has been remodeled with a second story added. Pine trees were planted to prevent erosion in the 1960's. The national park began buying land near us in the 1970's and the boundary line to the park is a half-mile from Moonshadow Camp. The area is surrounded by state forests and many hiking and biking trails. Our valley is known for incredible stargazing. Amenities include full access to the Camp kitchen and dining area. You will also have access to a Portable restroom and hand washing station which is located by our BIG BARN. Hot Showers, no problem, you can enjoy a secluded private shower in our shower house which has indoor and outdoor showers. Nearby is Lake Michigan and Esch Rd beach. Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lake shore is nearby and The National Park is famous for attractions , trails, and hiking. Electricity and water is included at the RV site, and the Shasta Camper along with the Showerhouse and Camp Kitchen

Moonshadow is a quiet retreat minutes from Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes, developed for families and friends to enjoy. The whispering pines will soothe the soul and offer you a peaceful return to nature. The full moon rise over the pines will explain the naming of the camp. On most nights you will be amazed to see more stars and satellites than you could imagine. We are nestled in a valley near the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park. Sleeping Bear Dunes, the villages of Empire and Glen Arbor are no more than 10-15 minutes away. Lake Michigan is 5 minutes away. The northern gem of Traverse City is only 25 minutes away. Hiking, biking, swimming, surfing and exploring up north are only minutes away. Pitch your tent in our whispering pines Our amenities include an outdoor covered kitchen with limited dishes, pots ,pans & utensils. Plenty of fresh running water from our house well at camp The kitchen has a stove for cooking and 1950's style Full size refrigerator. It helps to bring a cooler of your own as well, and have it stocked with plenty of ice, as we don't have Ice on site. Tents sites are walk in only. A Communal Covered Kitchen is on site to cook your own Gourmet meal. A fire pit, with wood is on site, Three (3) porta Potties with hand washing stations are on site and a shower house with secure private Hot Indoor & Outdoor showers RV SITE: We have one SITE for a RV Camper, teardrop, camper van, or small camper (no more than 22 feet) if you want to rent that site. 1950 Vintage Shasta Trailer is also available to rent. (The" MOON UNIT"(at Camp) (Sleeps 2)-and is available with heater, towels, sheets , blanket, snacks, a coffee maker with ground coffee & creamers for the morning wake up. A canopy is connected to the unit for outdoor seating with a private small above ground firepit with wood located next to it. See Shasta listing for nightly pricing.

Our unique RV Site is located on the edge of the Pine Forest. @ CAMP MOON SHADOW. The site has a pine canopy covering, and has partial sun & shade. We are located on the outskirts of Sleeping Bear National Lake shore in Northern Lower Michigan. The RV site is away from the tent site area which is located on the opposite side of camp. Amenities include full access to the Camp kitchen and dining area. You will also have access to a Portable restroom and hand washing station which is located by our BIG BARN. Hot Showers, no problem, you can enjoy a secluded private shower in our shower house which has indoor and outdoor showers. Nearby is Lake Michigan and Esch Rd beach. A Platform is located next to the site for a sm childrens or 2 man tent. Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lake shore is nearby and The National Park is famous for attractions , trails, and hiking. Electricity & or water is included. No large tents at this site. Those need to be rented at our Walk in Tent sites.

Our 1959 Vintage Shasta Camper (THE MOONUNIT) is Located at CAMP MOON SHADOW. Enjoy your own space to relax in the whispering Pines. After you arrive, you can check out and use all the amenities that are available to our tent campers. These include, a complete Covered Outdoor Kitchen, with, sink, stove, fridge and stuff to cook a gourmet meal. Trails abound for biking and camping as we are located next to Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lake shore. The local beach(Otter creek)- Esch Rd Beach is minutes down the rd via auto. There is a indoor & outdoor shower house, with Hot showers & Porta Potties on site, A covered Dining area and a communal Fire pit that you can share with other campers. If you want to have some down time, you can also enjoy your own canopy next to Unit, and small above ground firepit../ Horseshoes, Volleyball, and soccer nets are located by the Big Barn. WE SUPPLY SHEETS, BLANKETS, PILLOWS, TOWELS, SHAMPOO AND SOAP. A SMALL FRIDGE IS LOCATED OUTSIDE THE CAMPER UNDER THE ATTACHED 12 x 12 CANOPY. CLEANING & FOGGING WITH A VIRUCIDE IS DONE AFTER EACH OCCUPANCY . This place is a Hidden Gem, and we would like to share it with you. Your Hosts, Robb & Jeannie

Nice RV spot. Pretty secluded from the outside but you are pretty close to some buildings and the RV camper they rent so not SUPER private. Great spot overall though

We’ve stayed at Camp Moonshadow twice and love the site, the places to visit nearby, and the hospitality we’ve received from Robb and Jeanne! I could not recommend staying here more. So quiet, pet friendly, an outdoor shower, and the woods are something straight out of a fairy tale. You will regret not staying here!

Perhaps the best place I've stayed at on hip camp. Definitely top 5. Robb and Jeanne have a really great place. The photos are accurate. The pine forest was great. At night you can hear the wind traveling from one side to the other. I love the clean flat carpet of pine needles. In the morning we drove about 5 minutes to lake Michigan Beach which was gorgeous. No bugs at all this time of year. I liked the community fireplace because it was all setup and quick to get a fire going. There is a volleyball court in the grass too.

This was our second year staying at the Camp Moonshadow. It is quiet and relaxing place to unwind. The hosts were very nice and welcoming. The camp is close distance to a lot of state parks and hiking trails with beautiful views to Lake Michigan.

This place was rad! Super quiet and clean. The showers were Hot and toilets were clean. I drove north to Arts Tavern for Breakfast @ 8am, it was great! I’d camp here again.

Excellent place! Robb and Jenn were very gracious and helpful upon our arrival. The kitchen is wonderful and well stocked. Portapotties are super clean and well maintained. This is one of the best hipcamps we have had the pleasure to experience.

Robb and Jeanne have a beautiful place near Sleeping Bears! They’ve thought of everything; our wooded RV spot was set up with privacy, fire pit, table/chairs, electric and water. We also had access to an amazing “glamp kitchen” with a full stove/oven/frig, a pavilion which would be great if the weather was bad; horse shoes, volleyball, and more. To top it off, they are wonderful, friendly people. Robb even had his bluegrass bandy entertain us Friday night!

My first time using the app and I came across this camp site. So happy I booked a stay. I went with just my dog and it was perfect. It is near some good hiking spots if that’s your thing and the public beach isn’t far. Beautiful spot !

We stayed a night at Camp Moonshadow RV site as we hopped around the LP for a couple days. What a great property! The amenities were more than I expected and Robb & Jeanne couldn’t be nicer! Quiet overnight even with what seemed like a full camp. We definitely would go back. Thank you for sharing your space!

We feel so lucky to have camped out as first time Hipcampers at Camp Moonshadow! Perfect location — so close to the beach, dunes, and little towns. Our RV site had everything we needed (and more!) Plus, the outdoor shower was awesome and to be able to wash our dishes in the outdoor kitchen was truly a treat. Porta-John’s were clean and easily accessible. We absolutely loved stargazing in the meadow at night, and watching the sunrise between the pines in the morning. Robb and Jeanne are awesome folks and their property is so beautiful! We will be back!

This was a fantastic Hipcamp experience! We have stayed at many, and this one rates right up there at the top. Great location, private RV camping spot, all amenities you could possibly need were provided. They even had plenty of firewood at our disposal at no extra charge. We will be back!

Our first Hipcamp experience will be hard to top! We loved everything about this place. For some reason didn’t realize we would be the only RV. I was so glad we were after going to two back-to-back crowded state parks. Loved the outdoor shower and the platform next to the RV site where we set up our chairs and our dog had her perch. Took Robb’s recommendation and went to St. Ambrose one night and loved it!

I cannot say enough positive things about camp moonshadow. The hosts are so helpful and communicative, the site for tents is spread out and stunning surrounded by pines, and the access to resources like the bathrooms, outdoor shower, and kitchen are amazing. Not to mention, here’s a beach five minutes down the road that is beautiful and where we spent most of our nights. Close proximity to sleeping bear dunes (20 minutes to the dune climb) and a quick 30/40 minute drive to traverse city. Four nights was nowhere near enough. We will be back soon!

Lovely lil camper

This lil camper was adorable and Robb & Jeanne helped make it smooth with everything you could need - water, a mini fridge, soft lights outside, a fire pit with wood & kindling, and the list goes on! Their instructions were helpful and thorough. The place was clean, quiet, and oh so quaint. Would definitely stay again the next time I'm in Michigan!

We loved camping at Robb and Jeanne's land! They have great communal spaces like the indoor/outdoor shower house, kitchen, picnic dining area, and porta johns. A beautiful spot to relish in the tall Michigan pine trees and green forest! It was awesome being so close to the beach, and glen arbor.
