The people working there are friendly and helpful. There is a nice deli right on the property to buy things or get a meal. The park is located close to the ocean and there are places to walk on the beach.

This was an amazing location and a perfect home base for folks looking to explore this small remote fishing village or the Lost coast wilderness. Note that the drive to and from is HEADS UP. very steep and windy descent with lots of exposure down into the town. we would not recommend it for a large RV or trailer.

Rare to find a small town with things to do. A quiet fishing place with kind locals along a wild coast. The camp hosts went above and beyond and the view is epic. You also sleep right next to an airplane runway.💯

The campground is in such a unique and beautiful spot. I think it’s well worth the money we paid to stay there. I was disappointed when we got there our “neighbors” were on our spot and had multiple dogs off leash that had that kept coming into our area and pooping. The spot we stayed in was tightly nestled between two spots and we had a lot of issues with moving around. The second day we stayed the campers to the one side of us left and we had a big grassy space for the kids to run which helped a lot with the feeling crowded. I’d recommend getting two sites if you’re a larger party. The staff were super friendly and helpful our entire stay. The cinnamon rolls were 10/10 and a cheap yummy breakfast option for our kids. The bathrooms were very well maintained for a beach campground. We would definitely go back just pick a different spot or purchase two.

Shelter Cove is a wonderful spot -- it's worth the drive down the twisty road. I took my dog for his 9th birthday and it's probably THE most dog-friendly place we've ever been. He had the best birthday getting to go everywhere. Once we got settled into our site, everything we wanted to do was within walking distance -- the deli & grocery store, a local bar, a local brewery, and a few other restaurants as well. Staff was very friendly and welcoming. The facilities were clean and well maintained. We had spot #3 and enjoyed views of the ocean as well as watching the small planes and helicopters land at the air strip next door.

Very nice view of the ocean and a short walk to shelter cove. Bathrooms were clean. There were other campers nearby. All were quiet. Only negative was that firewood is very expensive.

The bathrooms and shower were nice and the self check in was easy. The campsites are RIGHT next to each other. That wasn’t bad because there weren’t many tent campers, mostly RV’s on a different row. However, there is a bar or something right next to the campground. There was music and folks being loud, along with a very loud pressure washer sound until midnight.

I took 5 of my grandchildren, ages 13-22. They had a blast. So much to explore! Tide pools and seals, redwoods and black sand beaches. We had campfire nights with s’mores and laughter! I’d do all over again!! Thank you Shelter Cove for the wonderful memories!!

My experience was very mystical with the marine layer , so I would advise to watch for humidity if tent camping. The people was friendly and very helpful especially when it came to their restroom upkeep. All in all this a spot with an awesome scenery.

We had quite the thrilling experience driving into Shelter Cove. Picture this: we had just picked up our rented RV in San Francisco that day and, after a long journey, we found ourselves navigating those windy, steep roads in the dark. It was definitely a white-knuckle ride and not for the faint of heart! We arrived pretty late, but the staff at the check-in had thoughtfully prepared a packet for us, which made the process smooth and easy. They were incredibly kind and welcoming, which was such a relief after our intense drive. Once we settled in, we were treated to absolutely breathtaking views. I couldn't get enough of the stunning scenery. And as if that wasn't enough, we even had some live entertainment watching the sea lions! We spent over an hour mesmerized by their antics – it was such a delightful and unexpected treat. Despite the nerve-wracking drive in and out, the whole experience was undoubtedly worth it. Shelter Cove is a hidden gem that offers unparalleled beauty and charm.
