Mountain Home is a permaculture-inspired, land-based, fun-loving community of friends living in a magical corner of the Santa Cruz Mountain here in the Soquel Creek watershed. There are about a dozen people living throughout the property. The land is mostly a redwood and oak forest with a central meadow. It is very peaceful and serene. As far as activities there is plenty to choose from. There is a creek in the valley below and the beach is 15 minutes away. All the Santa Cruz surf spots are within a 30 minute drive. There are many well known mountain biking routes in the area as well.Welcome to Mountain Home. We are a small community of friends living in the Santa Cruz Mountain about 10 minutes from the coast. We have a couple different places to pitch a tent offering varying degrees of privacy and convenience. This is truly a beautiful place to be with wild animals wandering about, birds singing all day, and a very peaceful and serene environment. In addition to a beautiful, picturesque place to sleep we offer access to the communal space on the property which includes a communal kitchen, composting bathroom and hot outdoor shower, as well as a fire pit and a generally comfortable and convivial space to be. Access is very easy along paved roads. We are about 10 minutes up the Soquel Valley from Soquel Village. 15 minutes to New Brighton and 20 minutes to Santa Cruz. There is Verizon cell service as well as wifi available upon request.

Camping at Mountain Home

Get away from the city

The camp site was quiet and peaceful. It was strange not hearing the planes, trains and trucks driving on the freeway. All I could hear was the crickets and I could see the stars and night sky through the oak trees. I can't see that in the city where I live. If you want to go to the beach make sure you leave early or you won't find parking.

Camping in Soquel

Very nice place for camping. Nice host, nice spot to camp, very clean for a small spot. Liked the amenities of the kitchen area. Plenty of space for cooking and we were able to use the indoor camp stove to available kitchen ware. I would try it again.

Quiet and Beautiful

Camping here was quiet and beautiful! It's tucked away on top of a mountain. They have everything you need for a nice fire in the evening and the outdoor kitchen was great for coffee in the morning. Walker greeted us when we arrived and was so kind and hospitable our entire stay! Would definitely come back!
