Pohénégamook camping guide
When to go
Many of Pohénégamook’s businesses rely on the tourist trade, so although the town is open year-round, some things may not be open in winter (even though there are plenty of snowsports activities on offer during this time). Weather and offerings are best from June through October, though Pohénégamook can get very busy in mid-July through August when the lake is at its warmest and most welcoming.
Know before you go
- There’s an electric vehicle charging station in Pohénégamook.
- This isn’t an area you’ll be able to explore without a vehicle.
- Though many people in this area speak English and may well be fluent, there’s no guarantee. Have a translation app handy on your phone to help just in case.
- From Pohénégamook, you can cross the border into the town of Estcourt, Maine, but the border crossing station is only open Monday through Friday from 8am to 4pm. And of course, you’ll need relevant passports and/or visas for both Canada and the US if you’ll be coming back into Pohénégamook.
