Glamping near Percé guide

Overview

Rich in culture and history, Percé offers plenty to entertain visitors as a destination in its own right, but of course, it is the city’s proximity to some of Quebec’s most revered natural sites that is the main draw. The huge and impressive Percé Rock formation (literally translated as "pierced rock") is best viewed from the ocean, where you may also observe whales, while a trip out to Bonaventure Island to visit the seabird colony is a must. After epic hiking along the rugged coastline, enjoy a chill day exploring Percé’s excellent restaurants, boutiques, and galleries.

When to go

Though a fully functioning city with a year-round population, many Percé attractions and services aimed at visitors are only open from June through October. Percé is at its busiest in July and August, while the shoulder seasons of spring and fall can still get beautiful weather with fewer crowds. The area also offers amazing winter activities for those okay with more limited facilities.

Know before you go

  • Staff will be fluent in English at most attractions and campgrounds, but it wouldn’t hurt to have a translation app at the ready should you find yourself in need of help from someone with limited English vocabulary.
  • Without a car, it's very difficult to get around Percé, which is best considered part of a road trip around the Gaspé Peninsula.
