Our property has 187 acres to explore and hiking trails. There is an 8-acre pond for fishing (catch and release), paddleboats, kayaks and Jon boats. There is no charge to use our paddleboats, kayaks, or Jon boats.
In Stewartstown and the surrounding area, guests have so many natural attractions to visit, including Beaver Brook Falls and Lake Francis, both within 15 miles of the Ladd Pond. The Washburn Family Forest nearby is the perfect place to go for a hike through nature and spot local wildlife.
For an action experience, guests can try the ATV trails or the exciting snowmobile trails in winter. Close to ATV trails and direct access to Snowmobile trails.

Our cozy A-frame cabin and peaceful nature campsites are located in a beautiful mixed woodland next to the Missisquoi River, which is great for swimming, kayaking, and paddleboarding in the summer, and cross-country or backcountry skiing and snowshoeing in the winter. The property is fairly steep, so be prepared for a good 5–10 minute workout as you hike up to the cabin.
We have a stunning view of Mount Sutton, located about a 25-minute drive from the property. Owl's Head and Jay Peak are each about the same distance away.

This beautiful, historic property was one of the first to be settled in the early 1800s. The credited first settler in Charleston, Vermont; Abner Allyn and his family owned this farm for 100 years!
Our family began restoring the farmhouse as well as beginning a small regenerative farming operation in 2022.
Currently we have a small flock of broilers and layers, turkeys, ducks and guineas. Our birds are fed an organic feed local to Vermont and are pasture raised.
Freya an Luna are the Great Pyrenees' about the farm. They protect the flocks from predators. They are working dogs and have access to the entire property. For this-and other reasons, we discourage bringing pets to the farm.
A sweet brook meanders through the property which all sites have access to as well as stunning views of bald mountain.
Lovely farm views throughout the seasons. Multiple trails for exploring can be found on and off farm. Trail heads to multiple mountains are within a few minutes of campsites.
Lake Willoughby is a short 4 miles away, 7 miles to Island Pond, as well as endless hiking, biking, fishing, canoeing and more.

Looking behind as you drive up Coles Mountain to the land, you see views of Lake Willoughby and rolling mountains heading out to the horizon in the west. Majestic.
Once you have traveled 3 miles and gone up 1,700 feet from Lake Willoughby, you cross a land bridge over a stream and enter a private clearing ringed with tress and forest. This is an old orchard in the forest with an off-grid cabin. Cozy surroundings. Though you may hear others on surrounding properties, you don't see them. Cross another stream and the land goes back another 10 acres into deep forest. Magical.
Outdoor activities throughout the area include hiking, skiing and mountain biking at Burke Mountain, Kingdom Trails Association, Craftsbury Outdoor Center and local Vermont State Parks, as well as kayaking, swimming, and fishing on Lake Willoughby. Watch the sunset at Sentinel Rock.

The A frame cabin (Fen’s Den) is a super sweet cozy cabin in the woods. The sight about a 10 min hike up, has access to gorgeous woods, nice back country skiing, as well as many ski resorts. The wood stove kept us cozy all weekend and the cabin kitchen was well stocked with cookware. Kimberley and Alex were amazing hosts! Can’t wait to camp up there again.

Cozy, well-equipped and built with warmth and lots of love, the tiny house was exactly what we were looking for to welcome the new year :-) Alain was kind, welcoming and very responsive; he made sure we have everything we needed, and went above and beyond to find a solution for a little technical issue related to the wood stove (thank you Alain!). We spent a peaceful down time, recharged, and were even able to enjoy snowshoeing in the beautiful vast terrain. What a treat!

Nicole was amazing as a host. But the cozy placement of this stay was beyond expectations. Honestly, crushing it for two hikers that needed a little bit of tenderness. Fresh water, a fire pit, a bathroom, and who could forget the best stream to cool off and wash down in. 10/10 would recommend.

The sunsets were beautiful ( reds,oranges,pinks and purples)
Little fire area and a good amount of land to roam around. The tiny house had what was needed. It was very quaint and cozy. The host Alain was really kind and easy to talk to.

4 nights at Back to Nature Eco-Lodging
I have too many nice things to say about this beautiful campground. Paula and Benoit were amazing and accommodating even before I arrived. It is clear they value the comfort of all their guests, and everything is well laid out and explained in the lovely little welcome pack I recieved on arrival, with a map of the grounds and a lock for the wooden cache on site. I was especially grateful for the courtesy lantern I was able to borrow for my stay (take it! I brought two flashlights, a lantern and a headlamp and still found a lot of uses for it!)
My stay in the hammock tent was amazingly comfortable. The tent is clean and well maintained. Despite heavy rains for most of my stay, I stayed cozy and dry. And a small river by the campsite made for a really nice soundtrack to fall asleep to.
The hammock tent runs cooler than most tents due to being suspended. Nights hit 11 degrees and I noticed even with my inflatable matte and camp blanket, i needed to layer up to stay warm. Insulation is an absolute must.
Highlight of the trip was the giant polyphemus moth that joined the other moths in trying to get at my lights through the mesh of the tent. It was huge and beautiful! It was a great trip, with kind hosts and a quiet, peaceful place to stay. I will absolutely book again.
