Lanthorn is situated just north of Wakefield Quebec surrounded by forest, creeks, waterfalls, and hikes with views of the surrounding area. Our farm grows willow for basketry and living structures. We can also arrange to teach a weaving class for a fee. To learn more about our farm, you can visit Lanthorn.ca. On the property, there is also a large pottery studio which offers classes that you can book in advance of your visit. To do so, you can visit muraiceramique.com for details. Escape to the Forest Hideaway, a charming off-grid tiny house with tiny wood stove, perfect for adventure! No need to disconnect - we’ve got WIFI! Make sure to enjoy the deck and nearby gazebo! Inside, you'll find your queen bed in the loft at the top of a ladder. The tiny house is surrounded by trees, and the interior has a platform couch and bench for seating, tiny wood stove, tiny kitchen, "shower" area for sponge bathing, and a composting toilet. (There is no running water or electricity). We are stocked with all bedding, towels, dishware, tea, coffee, and a French press! You'll find a BBQ and camp stove for cooking on the deck - there's no fridge, but a cooler with ice packs will be provided. Battery packs are here for charging cell phones and laptops (with USB-C and USB). The tiny home comes complete with rechargeable lamps, battery powered lights, potable drinking and washing water, and WIFI! Consider this the most indoor camping experience you can have and still be out in the woods!
You'll want to be comfortable with making a fire and keeping warm in the winter months! The tiny stove will keep you warm on the coldest winter days, but you have to keep it going. :) In the winter months, we'll get the stove started to warm everything before you arrive (and provide you with kindling and wood). When cleaning out the ashes in the stove (if necessary,) please use the metal pail outside and place the ash-filled pail back on the concrete blocks. Please note that there is no other heat source.
Check out Mill Pond Conservation Area for great hiking about 15 minutes away! Maybe Rock Dunder Nature Reserve for hiking and AMAZING views? (30 minutes).

Such an impressive homestead that Jennie and family have created. Beautiful, quiet farmland with so many ammenities to choose from. I was traveling through on a road trip so it was amazing to find a place outside of the city to stay that was peaceful, beautiful and quiet. I enjoyed the Leo cabin with my dog and Jennie and family were very welcoming and accommodating. They set me up after a long day of traveling with a great sauna and cold plunge with great touches like eucalyptus and camomile tea. I enjoyed a quiet fire afterwards which set me up for a great nights sleep. I would highly recommend a stay at Agape Gardens!"

Weekend Trip to Ferme Lanthorn
We had such a wonderful time here! Mary made our stay so comfortable and really went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. The bunky is very cozy and perfectly fits two people in my opinion. The property is also gorgeous. So much open space, lots of bird songs, and being around all the animals was a real treat. I captured a couple really beautiful and unique field recordings there as well thanks to the diversity of nature sounds. I can’t wait to come back here!!

2 nights at Ferme Lanthorn
The Green Room was the Perfect solo writer's retreat. The room is absolutely beautiful, with dark green walls, gorgeous antique furniture, and charming artwork. Thanks to the electric heating and kettle, I never had to worry about making or maintaining a fire, which left a lot more time and energy to read and write. The lighting was perfect as well, with bright wall sconces to illuminate the room at night, and a bedside lamp for more focused light/reading in bed.
Mary and family are very kind and hospitable, and also amazing at respecting boundries!! They took great care of me and the space, even letting me know before they let dogs out in case it would bug me. It felt confident that I would be left in peace as long as I wanted, but also that someone would be around if I needed anything.
Even the animals were great. The sheep and goats are very friendly, and good listeners if you find yourself wandering the property at night. The deer are somewhat shyer, but still delightful.
The only thing it was missing was running water, but this didn't bother me because I'm used to camping. Frankly, it was much fancier than I had anticipated. The composting toilet was lovely and modern, and came with clear instructions (in a fancy frame to boot). I recommend bringing baby wipes or other gentle dry-bathing material if you're going to do more than two nights.

I have a wonderful weekend at the Green Bunky! Mary gave me a tour of the farm when I arrived and I got to meet (and even feed!) the deer, goats and sheep.
The bunky was cute, cozy and peaceful. I was nice and warm all weekend and it had everything I needed.
Mary also gave me some directions for snowshoeing and I had had a great time traipsing around in the woods, checking out the frozen beaver pond and checking out the logging trail. I'm looking forward to coming back next winter!

I had a lovely stay at the Green Bunky and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for some quiet time surrounded by nature. The Bunky has everything you might need for a short stay and feels very cosy. I particularly enjoyed the quiet, the opportunity to go for a nature walk in the nearby forest, meeting the animals and Mary's kindness and friendliness.
