HISTORIC MONUMENTS The "Hole in the Wall" bridge was built in 1905 and is also known as the Canal Lake Concrete Arch Bridge. It was designed by the federal Department of Railways and Canals. It is located on Centennial Park Road on the southwest side of the Trent Severn Waterway bridge, northeast of Bolsover. The bridge was designated a National Historic Site of Canada in 1988. FISHING Canal Lake is a medium size lake with a large diversity of fishing spots. There is a variety of fish available including largemouth bass, pike and muskellunge (muskie) and an abundance of panfish. Be sure to visit the local area, we are within a 15 minute drive of several restaurants, grocery store and the LCBO. The Kirkfield Lift Lock, Fenelon Falls, Balsam Lake Provincial Park and Lindsay are all within a 30 minute drive. There are miles of paved country roads and bike paths to explore the area. Enjoy your evening sitting around a campfire telling stories or listening to the tree frogs. The dark night sky is ideal for star gazing. Farm fresh produce is available for purchase in season as well as small batch maple syrup from our own trees. Please Note: We are in an active farming area so expect the sounds and smells that go along with being in the country. Local country road traffic can be heard at times. There are no bathroom facilities available. Dogs are welcome but they must be always on leash as we have a cat, chickens and wildlife that roam the property. We also ask that you clean up after your pet. Campfires are permitted unless there is a ban in effect. We have seasonal insects we recommend you arrive prepared. There are bee hives on the farm, site #4 is the closest to the hives

If you’re feeling adventurous you can hike around the surrounding forest; stay within the property boundaries and you will discover the hydro cut and its valley view, the ravine, the waterfall, and a footpath that leads to a bridge at the back of the lot. Or simply just relax and enjoy the soundings and view from the sitting rocks. The public beach for swimming is a quick walk down Beach Road. It has a large dock, picnic tables, grassy area along with an portapotty. Or check out the sandbar and drop off at the boat launch at the end of the road. The lake has a diverse shoreline and perfect for small boats and kayaks. The east gate to Algonquin Provincial Park is a scenic 30-minute drive, while hiking trails suitable for all skill levels can be found closer at Lake St. Peter Provincial Park. The campsite includes a canoe, 3 paddles and 3 life jackets. THERE IS NO WATER ACCESS from the site, so all watercrafts must be transported by vehicle. Ratchet straps will be provided to secure the canoe to your roof racks. The spacious campsite has pull-through access for trailers, and space for up to 3 tents. The site is surrounded by a variety of tree and plant species while the quiet nights encourage visits from wildlife, including grouse, deer, moose, and turkeys. The campsite comes with a fire pit, picnic table and a small shed for storing lawn chairs and other items. Tucked at the back of the property sits a comfortable and clean outhouse that was newly renovated and restored in Spring 2024. Hand sanitizer, air fresheners, and ventilation ensure the outhouse stays fresh. Garbage removal will be provided. Unlimited water for cleaning purposes will also be provided. Guests must bring their own potable water. The campsite is 5 minutes from small-town Maynooth, which is known for its unique vintage shops and selection of art studios and galleries and 30 minutes from Bancroft, the Mineral Capital of Canada. While the site is not directly connected to any trails, a short stroll down the road leads to an access to Papineau Creek. Nearby old logging roads make for easy and accessible on-foot adventures.
