10 minutes down the road you'll find the quaint village of Talbot. The town retains a number of historic buildings from its prosperous gold mining days. Some of the old shops which line this street are now home to speciality businesses, including a clothing boutique, bookshop and homewares store. The restored London House building in Scandinavian Crescent operates as a cafe and visitor information centre and is surrounded by an attractive community garden. At the corner of Scandinavian Crescent and Fyfe Street is the Talbot Pioneers Memorial Playground with BBQ and picnic shelters. A farmers market operates in the town streets every 3rd Sunday of the month. The pool is great in summer months and the general store is well managed by Prue and open 8am to 7pm every day

Perfect place to stay for bird watchers and nature lovers. Also for those interested in exploring the sun through solar telescope or night skies through large Dobsonian telescope
The hut has an inside wood heater and verandas this hut makes a cosy stay away. A 40 acre bush block with a Trust for Nature Covenant. This box-ironbark woodland block has 2 dams and plenty of wildlife, a great place for bird watching. A self guided nature walk on the property provides you with an introduction to the local ecosystem. There is also a bird list for the property along with photos and descriptions of some of these birds. There is a makeshift bird hide and binoculars that you can borrow.
The hut has a double bed (bedding provided), undercover of the veranda is a gas stove with two burners and a grill, outside a long drop toilet, water tank (not drinkable) but drinkable water will be provided. The hut is close to one of the dams. Only one booking at a time so you won’t be sharing camping site with anyone. Owners live on the property but out of view and ear shot. A picnic set, kettle, camp stove and saucepans available for use. Solar lights inside, internal wood heater outside fire pit. An outdoor camp shower and a composting toilet is located near hut.
Basic amount of wood provided for internal heater and cost $10 milk crate of wood for external fire pit, a crate should last a couple of hours.
A guided 90 minute star gazing experience using 500mm diameter telescope is offered for $50/session to guests of the antechinus hut. Depending on the time of year you will see galaxies, nebulae, star clusters and planets. This is only offered when conditions allow, clear skies and minimal moon. Note this activity involves use of step ladder due to size of telescope.
There is also solar astronomy, view viewing the sun through hydrogen alpha telescope. $30 for 30 minutes.
There are great bike rides off and on road, close to Cairn Curran (15km) for fishing and kayaking, also plenty of bushwalks and bird watching sites nearby. Newstead 5km away whilst Daylesford, Maldon and Castlemaine are about 25km away.

The St Arnaud Caravan Park is a small park situated in an elevated location and ideally positioned close to the recreation reserve, which is just a short stroll to the main street of St Arnaud. Our delightful park has 23 powered caravan sites, 3 x 2 bedroom self-contained cabins, and 2 budget cabins. The park has a modern, immaculate amenities block that includes disabled facilities, showers & toilets.
There is also a customer laundry which has 2 washing machines together with a dryer for those days when outside drying is not possible. We have a large BBQ area and a great information area in the office for those who want to explore our great little town.
For those who don't want to cook, the park is located just an easy 5-minute stroll to local restaurants and eateries and while down the street, you also have the choice of browsing the local shops as you are walking along. Your hosts, Rhonda & Tubby, having taken over the park in December 2016, are old-fashioned country people who love to make sure that you enjoy your time at the park and want to come back again to visit us.

Our home is atop a hill with peaceful and serene 360 degree views to die for. The property in Waterloo is a 200-acre working farm with Murray Grey cattle and Cheviot sheep, and, of course, many kangaroos.
We have a campsite available near the house, under a beautiful Yellow Box tree. Power is available if required. Alternatively, one or two bedrooms are available in an independent wing of the house with a private bathroom and toilet.
There are cafes and eateries in Beaufort which is only 10 kilometres away. The town also provides a supermarket, hotel, chemist, hardware store, and butcher shop, with many other spots of interest. The railway station has regular services to Ballarat and Melbourne which take 1 to 2 hours journey. The Pyrenees Wine region is also on the doorstep. A public dump point is available in Beaufort.
Yellow Box Hill is backed by the State Forest so there are ample walking trails, as well as in the Mt. Cole area. Information about the region is available at the Beaufort Community Resource Centre and Library. Gold detecting is very popular as Waterloo was a gold-mining town in the 1850's. Surely, there has been some left behind!

Beautiful and clean. The mini golf was a big hit (no pun intended), and the little quaint indoor stove kept the cabin warm on a cold night. Ian was friendly, communicative, and checked in regularly to ensure we were ok. The block is easy to find, and there is plenty of tank water available. The bush kitchen was cute, and the table near the fire pit was lovely to sit at. The cabin has enough beds and chairs for family.

Had an amazing stay at this beautiful hut. Megan and Patrick are so welcoming and helpful to walk me through everything I need to know upon arrival, and are super responsive to messages/requests. It's very peaceful and safe surroundings with some walking trails to explore. Inside the hub felt everything was well prepared and I didn't need to bring much extra stuff myself except for food and clothes. Besides, I do recommend having a mosquito repellent handy when outside or near the veranda. Overall I'm so happy that I booked this trip, highly recommending it and I will be coming back :)

Beautiful little bush getaway nestled under the gum trees. The spot is peaceful, quiet, and full of things to learn about the surrounding land. The hosts were incredibly accommodating and even mapped out a walking route around the property, which was genuinely interesting. Highly recommend for anyone considering a visit. Plenty of wildlife, and the inside is super cosy with the wood-fired heater.

Absolutely LOVED our stay at the Antechinus hut. It has everything you need, stovetop, teapot, quiet, private, plenty of fire wood provided. The room stayed so toasty warm with the little fire heater. So much land to explore, especially loved spotting the roo and wallaby tracks around the dam. Megan was also such a lovely and relaxed host and made us feel more than welcome. We will return!

This little cabin is cosy, more spacious than the pictures make it look, and warm the fireplace kept it very warm all night.
The cabin feels disconnected and private, and is a good distance away from the main house.
There is a great outdoor firepit, plenty of water, the cooking essentials, and a clean outhouse!
The hosts are absolutely lovely and welcoming, and id stay there again in a heartbeat.
