Site 19 - Camping under the stars
Beautiful family live here! There isn't much in Kalpowar but we enjoyed 2 nights in the paddock . The hosts supplied wood for our fire - we were in a group of 3 camps and the yard was ours. Was refreshing to just sit back and watch this small sleepy town. We did the railtrail - a ride of 65kms to the rnd and back from here. I would stay again - a charm all of its own. The shower needs some work but we appreciated the hot water

Site 31 - Camping under the stars
If you’re after a quiet spot, Behind the Pines is the place to go. All the way at the end of the ashphalt, the nice big old school oval surrounded by shady trees was the perfect spot to pull up our camper trailer. Amenities were clean and tidy, even had a little fur baby join me in a warm shower, brave little kitty cat😂. Not far from the old abandoned train tunnels too. Will definitely visit again.

We absolutely loved camping at Behind the Pines. Meagan was so accomodating and helpful. Such a lovely place to relax.

This was a great spot to park up for an overnighter on the nearby rail trail. We had 2 vehicles, left mine here overnight and rode all the way to builyan, returning the next day in the other. Very convenient. We didn't use any facilities but if you are looking for a safe place to park up rather than leaving your vehicle at barimoon siding in the state forest then this is the place for you! Thank you Meagan ;)

Meg was the best host. I loved that it was fenced and the kids could run free. Nothing was ever too much trouble. Very knowledgeable of the local area. 💯 will go back

Great place to base yourself for the Boyne Burnett rail trail- tunnel section. Large old school playground- bit of a slope. Can also donate funds. Large fire pit with wood - bring an axe. Didn’t meet Meagan but I believe she’s lovely.

Camping under the stars was great. A large open field with enough space that you can camp anywhere, situated on the edge of a quiet little town. The amenities were fine for bush camping and I was very surprised to have phone service. Will definitely camp here again.

Beautiful spot. Great fire pit. Welcoming hosts. Not advertised but there is a hot shower. Grab veggies out of the veggie patch. Rail trail a 5 minute drive away and Mungungo pub 10-15 minutes away. Really enjoyed a 4 day break and recommend highly. 👍

Convenient to the BBIRT.
Signage at the camp would be an asset!
We are new to Hipcamp & found it rather odd just pulling up on a empty block of land with no obvious signs to indicate if we we’re indeed on the right block of land, no obvious sign to amenities.
We used the public ones down near the hall which were clean.

fabulous camping at “behind the pines”. Hosts were very accommodating
Clean amenities and the fire pit area and tennis courts were a bonus!!
The dirt road in (from south) was a bit rough but was fine for caravans.
Grandkids loved the horses.

It’s a great well equipped stop off. Kids loved the animals and outdoor movies!
Also loved the vege garden we were able to stick up on the hosts are amazing thanks again

We arrived late in afternoon and backed the motorhome up under a shady tree. The field is on a gentle rise and the views of the valley were beautiful and relaxing. It was an awesome location to investigate the rail trail.

Thank you so much for a great stay. They have hot shower now. And the kids had a awesome time with horses and dog. They even went and put up a outdoor movie screen and the kids and big kids watched a movie. Please support the small community. 🙏 Great also for staying there to do rail trails .

Very peaceful and great location. Hosts Megan and Ronald were very helpful even though they were in the middle of the passing of a close relative. Hot shower was an unexpected bonus. Great fire pit and plenty of firewood. The baby carves were very cute. Recommend a stay. We will return.

So tranquil.
Handy to Monto but a world away! There are no shops or fuel in Kalpowar so be stocked up.
Meagan and Ronald are wonderful hosts and the new firepit is a ripper.

We had a lovely stay in Kalpowar, despite the rain! There was so much space, flat and grassy; perfect for setting up our camper and letting our little terrier run freely. Meagan is a lovely host, very friendly and easy going. Full 4G reception, which let us watch TV on the iPad. This was a quick trial run in our new camper and it tested us- a windy rainstorm hit just as we were setting up but we managed and the camper was warm and dry.
