Murray River camping and houseboats await visitors to this South Australian town.
The border town of Paringa is proud of being one of the first South Australian towns roadtrippers will pass through when arriving from Victoria—or the last, if going in the other direction. On the banks of the broad, snaking Murray River, there are plenty of riverside holiday parks in Pargina and the larger nearby town of Renmark. Campers wanting a break from the tent can rent house boats here, too. Paringa and Renmark also offer other watersports, including water skiing and wakeboarding. Self-catering campers will also enjoy stocking up on fresh Riverland citrus and stone fruit, as the fertile, well-irrigated region produces a lot of fresh food. Campsites in and around Paringa are typically near pools and rivers, and often have access to boat ramps and playgrounds, for campers travelling with their boats and kids in tow.
