This new-in-formation ecological art project is currently recruiting visitors to backcountry camp in beautiful fields, on woodland rim sites, or at delicate campsites located along a system of woodland trails. As of 2024, camping here provides a glimpse into a 3 year-old successional prairie, which at this phase is characterized by spacious views of a gently rolling young prairie seeded with a growing variety of native flowers. Most likely a good fit for those who are self-sufficient and like to avoid busy camping areas, but still want to get out to the park quickly (~7 miles to the Visitors Center) or travel into Cave City (3 mi) for coffee/etc. Expand from the campsite into a sketch-work of trails amidst a young prairie, as if you were camping near the headquarters of a satellite nature reserve. Water tap by main house for cleaning dishes, etc. Camping funds allow us to plant trees (~400 seedlings so far and 75 planned for 2024), establish prairie grasses and flowers, restore wetlands, create trails, and remove invasive species. Thanks to our visitors for supporting this type of project. p.s. Bundles of dried and split firewood are available onsite, usually a mix of red cedar and oak with a suggested donation of $6/bundle.

Spicebush
This was my second time camping out on Kevin's land, but my first time camping at the Spicebush campsite. This will be my go-to campsite from now on! It was such a dream! The trail down to the campsite is a small winding path that takes you past the most beautiful scenery filled with moss-covered rock cliffs, lots of ferns, wild flowers and a plethora of other native plants. It feels nothing short of magical! The campsite itself is nestled down at the bottom of the forest and is completely surrounded by nature. It feels so private and hidden away. I loved sitting by the campfire at night watching all of the fireflies flickering up in the tree canopy. Pure magic! Just like my first visit, Kevin and his son Parker were there to meet me when I pulled up. Getting to talk with them as we hiked down the trail to the campsite was a major highlight of the trip. Kevin has such a reverence for nature and it is so inspiring to hear him talk about the property and his son Parker is such a fun kid who on both of my trips offered to help carry things or to get a fire started for me. So kind! Could not recommend this place enough, and I will definitely be back many more times in the future!

Wish the weather was better- we’d have loved to hang out around the campfire enjoying the view. Kevin was helpful and friendly - even when we got stuck in the mud! Would definitely stay again.

Hickory Field
Hickory field; Kevin had everything (freshly) mowed and all the little trails through the property - was nice walking them w/my dog. Location is exactly as described -extremely convenient, especially for the caves in the area and hiking/bicycling. Thank you so much, Kevin!

Had a great time camping on Kevin's land. There's two campsites, but they're far enough apart you don't really notice the other campsite. He was very helpful with supplies to get a fire started.
