Tent, Swag or Campervan at Heyson base camp. Enjoy the lovely Gum lined Dry Creek with blue stone ruins of times gone by. Enjoy a short hike to the Wind Turbines and see up close how magnificent these green energy windmills work. Or enjoy a hike along the famous Heyson Trail at the top of the range. See the stars in all their glory whilst cuddling up in front of the camp fire. Wake up to grazing cattle, sheep and wildlife on a beautiful working farm. The campsite is nestled amongst beautiful old gums and pine with sweeping views of the valley in front and a gorgeous range out the back. Plenty of Shade and places to explore. Dogs on Lead only. There are livestock on the property, please do not approach livestock unless Host is with you. Just a short drive of 30 minutes to the town of Burra you can enjoy the Passport Key and see the rich heritage of the copper mining era. Jamestown is 25 minutes drive where you can explore the bundaleer forest or see the tesla battery.

Gateway town to much more in the Mount Remarkable region.

This campsite is mostly flat with the Rocky River running through my property, surrounded with river gum trees and plenty of bird life including kookaburras and Corellas. The property is fairly central to the localities of Laura, Stone Hut, Wirrabara, Melrose and Wilmington. Port Pirie is about 50km away if you need any major conveniences or supplies. You will need to be self-contained with your own camping toilet/shower and drinking water supply. We grow veggies on our land - if you would like some for your campfire dinner please ask me. Campfires are allowed. Dogs welcome.

Weekend Trip to Cartapo Creek - Farm Stay

Oliver and Chloe were great hosts. The area was cut and ready for us to settle in and relax. The farm location was close enough to go in and spend a great day looking around Burra. And then being far enough away from the traffic and bustle to return to our site and relax and enjoy the sunset. Lovely spot. Would definitely stay again.

We enjoyed staying at Cartapo Creek Farm Stay with Chloe and Oliver. They're a lovely young couple, very welcoming, nothing too much trouble. We had the entire camp ground to ourselves, peaceful, stunning rural setting. We purchased some meat from them and had a camp fire, it was what we needed to escape the hustle and bustle. A nice drive into Burra, stunning farm land, rolling hills and green pastures.

I had a great stay in site 1 which looks out to a great view right from the tent. Although a bit further to the pretty splendid bathrooms - it’s a short walk. Other guests were friendly and respectful of your camp site and were all there to enjoy the nature.

Picturesque farm stay with lovely views over surrounding paddocks and range. Hosts are superb friendly and lovely people. Diverse range of farm animals, which is great for kids. The camping sites are well spaced, with trees in between, so we felt we had our own space. Property is well situated for exploring the mid-North and Clare Valley.

We just spent three nights at Cartapo Farm Stay and absolutely loved it. It’s bush camping at its best, with the added security of being able to leave the van and head into the lovely town of Burra for a look around. My granddaughter especially enjoyed feeding the pigs, which was such a highlight for her. The hosts were very friendly and welcoming, and the fire at night made for a beautiful, relaxing atmosphere. It was such a peaceful stay, and I’d definitely recommend it to anyone wanting to spend a few days exploring Burra.

I had a lovely 2 night stay at Cartapo Creek. The arrival instructions and communication were really clear, with clear signage. I ordered some firewood which was ready and waiting, and was a good mixture of kindling and larger logs. My lamb chops for dinner were delicious! I was at site 1 which is the furthest from the house and felt very private. There was someone on Site 3 for one night, close enough to be aware of them but not close enough to impact on my stay.

We had a wonderful weekend at the farm! Waking up to the amazing views was such a treat, and the kids loved feeding the pigs and watching the sheep.
