This was a 55-acre farm, split in half to accommodate a bypass through Charlottesville, so the previous owners had to give up half the land, and actually moved the house down to the other half of the property! They had to build a land bridge to get to the new home site, so they turned the bridge into a dam and created a beautiful large swimming pond, complete with beach and gazebo. My wife Stephanie and I bought the property in early 2017 and have turned it into a private horse farm, adding pastures, a riding ring, and 6-stall barn. There are ~21 horses who live on the property. The property is unique in that you can hardly see another house from anywhere on the property and yet we are only 2 miles from Barracks Rd. Shopping Center, and 4 miles from the University of Virginia.

Site 6 - Remote tent site

Close to Charlottesville

Awesome spot! Only downfall was not having a table at the site as advertised, but we made it work no problem. Would return!

Best experience

I traveled to Charlottesville for work. I needed a campsite close to my job location. Bob's land was perfect. It was just an eight minute drive and to return to a beautiful campsite after a long day was amazing. The land is well kept, directions were precise and the views spectacular. I saw a breathtaking sunset and listened to birds singing. This experience was better than any campground I have stayed at. I will be returning for sure.

Enjoying Shangri-La in modern times

Absolutely wonderful shangri-la on a farm with horses, dogs and spqcious vistas, and the camp sites are remote and hidden in the sheer beauty of nature, trees, foliage and birds everywhere. And it is literally only minutes from Charlottesville main sites: UVA and downtown and emmet street shopping, restaurants etc The bathroom and amenities are also just perfect! can’t wait to come back!
