Hans is a Star Host
Star Hosts are highly rated, responsive, and committed to providing incredible experiences.
Once known as the Middaugh Farm , this property produced Corn, Buckwheat, Pigs, Chickens, and White Clay.  Forced to sell off a northern 70 acre Tract, which is now off the Tax Roles and held by the DOI,  and other non contiguous properties to help maintain the remaining 268 acres, The streams host turtles, crayfish and minnoes.   Deer , Rabbits, Squirrels, Foxes, Chipmunks, Coyotes (not the immigration kind, ) and the occasional Black Bear occupy the area. Named after my Father, who passed October 09 2017.  It is my goal to keep the property undeveloped, and ON the tax rolls through funding via access to members who enjoy the Dwindling Great Outdoors.  I hope to keep this in the family for a few more generations, while sharing the beauty and abundance of nature with others who have little opportunity to experience what I have, growing up in Rural America.Drive right in to the 20 acre field to set up camp, and enjoy over 200 acres of little streams and glacial boulders.  Woods roads and stone rows abound at the foot of the nothern slope of the Kittatinny mountain, just below the Appalachian Trail.

Recommend. Roughly 2 hours from Brooklyn. (There is a Walmart 10 minutes away with decent selection of last minute camping needs of you wanted to do this trip last minute. ) I reached out to Hans and heard back a few minutes later. I arrived and there was one group on the far corner of the field so I had my choice of spots. Fire pit was easily stocked with the ample dead fall and there's a portapotty that's clean and well kept. Greatful for the quick response to the last minute request so I could get there and reconnect with the land. Plenty of deer runways to follow, and good amount of clear-cut path too. Meandering steam was a nice walk. Quiet and peaceful night, no local traffic to speak of. Parked a few yards from fire, easy in, out from the field.

Nice open field for a few campsites. There wasn’t a table so Hans brought a nice wood picnic table he was accommodating. Has a new porta potty on site nice bonus! The field is adjacent to the road which doesn’t see many cars but can take a little away from feeling isolated when camping. Cell service is also spotty more an FYI. Liked the place would recommend.

The Nature of Skunks
Everything was as expected, and it was a very nice place for us to stop on a two day trip for an overnighter. We were visited in the early morning hours by a skunk who was just minding its own business searching out grubs to eat. Our tent happened to be on its nocturnal route. Because the weather was so warm that afternoon and night when we went to sleep, the tent was open to all who wanted to come in, including Mr. or Mrs. skunk. It has provided my wife and I with a story that will last a lifetime and be passed on to our grandchildren! Do not be afraid of skunks. They will not harm you. They aren’t interested in nibbling on your toes or your food. The key is to just be still and enjoy them while they are walking around and trying to route under your tent to see what’s hiding under there. despite some early freak outs, it never got frightened and never sprayed or got defensive. It is a reminder that as humans live on the land where other sentient beings have lived for millions of years before we arrived on the scene. ☺️

Great secluded property! We were only 1 of 2 campers the night we stayed. It’s a big open field but plenty of privacy and incredibly peaceful. The owners were very friendly and accommodating! Only 10 minutes from the AT

Large space available so the campsites are not on top of each other. Peaceful, quiet area. Plenty of deadfall wood in surrounding area.
