My family all had a wonderful time at Mollala Ripple and we all agreed we are looking forward to spending more time here soon. James has clearly put a lot of thought and care into creating a beautiful, clean, and stress-free experience in nature for his guests. A couple standouts for us included warm running water, a proper sink, and yes even soap in the soap dispenser (!) in the public area, clean toilets and additional sinks with soap and water in the main restroom/shower area, and a 24/7 vending cooler with a nice selection of reasonably priced items if someone in your group really wishes they brought a Diet Coke or two. The list goes out, but let it suffice that the camp site and amenities exceeded our expectations, despite having read many of the glowing reviews and photos. One thing I’ll add that wasn’t entirely clear to me beforehand is that all the campsites are really immediately adjacent to the river, right at the crest of the bank. You can’t really go wrong. Site 4 is right next to the public area with the hot water sink, main restroom/shower cluster, and access down to the river, but none of the sites are more than a one minute walk away from those facilities down the flat access road. Since there is the single river access leading to a wide stretch of river (at least when we visited mid-September), it didn’t appear like you could really go wrong with any of the sites assuming you meet the stated size criteria for your setup. Finally, when we visited in late-September, the water level was low enough for my 4 and 6 year olds to have a great time searching through the rocks for critters and cool rocks for hours. We found fish, crawfish, and even a garder snake! Apparently they are strong swimmers. Even so, there were still areas with water plenty deep enough for swimming if desired, and the water temp was cool but quite pleasant, especially for an Oregon river.

Nice but amenities are pricey

Overall had a great time! I wish some of the prices had been clearer before we went though. For example, I partly chose this place because of the hot tub amenity. However, that is an extra $75 a night (which is more than even booking the campsite was). Didn’t end up splurging for it but still had a nice time. Beautiful river!

A group of my friends and I rented spot #1 for two nights and we had a great experience. Directions and instructions provided by the owners made everything really straight forward and simple. Great access to the water and very clean and taken care of restrooms. Would highly recommend and would definitely stay there again! Thank you very much to the owners

What a beautiful piece of property. We ended up at James house on a fluke. It was last minute Labor Day weekend. We were set to go to a local park and recreational facility however due to fires and extreme weather they made the situation impossible for us to be able to stay. We looked on hip camp and found this vacation nearby. It was a beautiful piece of property that sat on the river. He has designated fire pits and big spacious spots. We stayed in site number two and quite frankly it was probably my favorite spot. I will definitely be back

What a gym and well-maintained

We had a great experience here and I would definitely go back. The camping areas are well marked, well maintained, and feel very safe. The camping next to the creek is very pleasant. It’s very much a gem of a spot to go camping especially with young kids or if you were just trying to have a more laid-back car camping experience. The minor things that could be perceived as negative (but not red flags) are as follows - the the adjacent sites sites are somewhat close so we will definitely see your neighbors. But the volume was not an issue. So if you want a totally isolated experience, this is probably not for you. - it is private land, and the edge of the perimeter is gated. It is not a place to go exploring or wandering around. As long as you think of this as a good safe campsite in an environment then you will be happy.

This place is a gem and James is a fantastic host. We essentially had the whole campground to ourselves and loved cooling off in the creek after a long travel day, gathering shells from freshwater snails and sharing a meal by the campfire. Highly recommend booking a “retreat” or campsite hot tub and watch the sunset with a glass of wine. We would certainly come back!

Pasture was a hit

2 Molalla Ripple Site 2

Beautiful place. Last minute issue where the sites we had booked were booked by another group and the host offered us a refund or the pasture. We took our chances and went with the pasture and ended up having a great time. So much room for our kids to run around and Play. We had pitched our tents right outside of the cows which my 7 year old thought was amazing. The bathrooms were clean, the paddle boat was really cool. James was really great at communicating when anything came up and his daughter was really sweet. Will definitely be back. Only issue we had was with other campers having no manners but that was of no fault of the hosts.

This hipcamp was really lovely in a number of ways. Beautiful river view and access to the river from the site. The river was a great place for a dunk, cool and clean, with a gentle flow. The toilet and non-potable water (for dishes) was super close. About 15 minutes from several neat hiking and swim areas. The river was too shallow for our SUP in August, but maybe would be good in early summer. The site was incredibly dusty (we had to hose off a bit of our stuff once home). I saw some other sites had woodchips laid out which I expect held the dust down somewhat, but ours did not have that. The non-potable water had a tag saying non-potable, but it was not easy to read (although there was fresh drinking water just a few sites down, we just wish the non-potable water had been more clearly marked for our middle-aged eyes). The port-o-pot was close, clean, and well stocked with TP, but didn't have any hand sanitizer. The site was also quite expensive when adding in all the expected people and cars. We paid almost $300 for 6 people and 3 cars for 2 nights. (2 people and 1 car didn't make it due to an ER trip, but we weren't sure if they would make it at some point, so didn't inquire about refund). I would go here again with just 2 people and 1 car (I'm assuming it would cost a lot less) and I would bring a big rug for in front of the tent. The river view, river access, and local nature was incredible! But, overall it was expensive enough I wouldn't take another group there.

What a perfect spot and at the perfect time of year. Things are a bit rough here, but I don't mind it. The cows were awesome, the river was awesome, the weather was awesome, the honey i bought from the owners was awesome. Really there was only one negative. The toilets were sooooo gross. So gross that my grandson refused to use them and he held his number 2 the whole time we were there. That being said, when we left on Friday we noticed the service company had just arrived to clean the toilets before the weekend rush. In my opinion, the toilets should also be cleaned after the weekend so those camping during the week do not have the same experience we did. Would I go back? yes, but only on a friday after the toilets have been cleaned.

A nice and peaceful site right along the river and site 4 is directly next to the access to the river. The kids had a blast playing in the river, riding their bikes and watching the cows "stampede" to the next pasture. The bathrooms were very clean and you can tell Jim has put a lot of work into his place. He saved us by having firewood available for purchase also. It was a great experience!
