We have a beautiful forested mountain that sits at the southern edge of the GreenRidge State Forest. We sit on top of the Paw Paw tunnel and have access to the C and O Canal Trail. We view this place has nature's forest that we are stewards of. We are reclaiming this land that was clear cut over a hundred years ago for an apple orchard and then used as a sawmill and car dump. We have a beautiful deciduous and pine forest with an incredible scenic mountain top that can view the Potomac River at one end. Each day we are working the land to create a beautiful back to nature spot for campers, hikers, bikers, river and travel enthusiasts. Currently we are suited for being a “bring all your stuff with you” camping as we are completely off grid.

Hilltop Camp 1
A step above primitive
Lovely view. Firewood was provided and plentiful. Clean porta-potty. Bring your own TP - there was a hornet nesting in the roll left there. Bring your own drinking water - provided water is good for dishwashing but one of the jugs had mold at the bottom. Campsite was a tad on a grade. No leveled spots for tents. The gravel road that runs by the campsite leads to a parking lot and trail to the Paw Paw tunnel and Ohio-Chesapeake Canal. Great for hiking, but it also meant we had traffic late at night and early in the evening. Felt a little too exposed for two female campers by themselves.

Potomac View
This spot was lovely! Hosts were welcoming, including their cute animal friends. Campgrounds are spaced out well from each other, there's plenty of forest to roam and firewood around to use. The amenities were available and ready to use once I arrived, and hosts were very helpful in talking through options for shelter nearby when it rained during my stay. This was my second time solo camping, and I felt safe and cozy here -- highly recommend!

Hilltop Camp 1
Nice but could have been better!!
Overall, my group did what we came to do... relax, connect with nature, disconnect from the normal day to day. There were a few items that weren't quite as described. First, the site is very uneven. Next, the porta-pot was a bit of a hike from the site (not fun at night) and it is located right on another site (which makes for interesting interactions with fellow campers when you come to do your business). Lastly, it didn't appear that much had been done at the site since it was previously used (trash can was half full already and the potable water container had not been refilled nor washed out/had algae growing in the bottom. On a more positive note, Tim did greet us upon arrival and helped us navigate the SUV up the hill to the site. There was also plenty of firewood to be burned both at the site and around in the woods. As mentioned before, very quiet (with the exception of occasional dog barking and turkey calling) and secluded spot (no visitors the entire time). I would definitely consider coming back to the Paw Paw area to camp.

Hilltop Camp 1
It was a very peaceful stay. It wasn’t hard to find at all. The owners are very helpful and inviting. The highlight of our stay was the climb up using our car.

Hilltop Camp 1
Great spot
Clean, nice, quiet. Accommodative. Nice people. Definitely worth 16 bucks a night. On the hill top you are secluded. Plenty of space for tents or hammocks. Drive up with 4wd.
