Red Earth Ranch is a four generation working ranch with other family parcels located throughout Colorado. This particular 40 acre parcel was lovingly created by the family patriarch over 30 years ago. As a firefighter and an avid outdoorsman, he worked to extensively fire mitigate and recreate the land into a wildlife sanctuary.  Through countless hours of land development in cooperation with the National Wildlife Foundation, Mule deer Association, and The Division of Wildlife, this property is being honored in his memory by sharing this special place with you. We had an outstanding experience camping at this location! The hosts were wonderful and the amenities were perfect! We enjoyed the campsite, the grill, the bathroom, the swing, and the pure quietness of the location. We highly recommend it to all campers! It was a great place to stay while visiting the nearby wineries in Paonia!

This site was everything we could have asked for and more. Tonda is working hard to improve the experience, and I am excited to see it when it is finished. The bathroom inside was much appreciated as was the outdoor kitchen with washing station. Tonda provided cleaning supplies to use when you were finished so the facilites were clean for the next guest. (This was on top of her cleaning the bathroom as well). The picnic tables were in very good condition and Tonda was able to help us find a site that was large enough for our oversized tent. On the second night, we had a fire with some of the other campers and Tonda supplied smores. There was a pond to swim in which one person in our group decided to enjoy. Tonda also provided noodles for the pond and folding camping chairs. She even helped us plan activities for the day and gave us directions to a maar volcano on our way home.

Beautiful Property with Amenities!
We booked a last-minute trip to Tonda's property for 4th of July weekend. Overall it was a wonderful stay! First, Tonda was by far the most responsive HipCamp host of everyone I reached out to and was incredibly helpful answering my questions before and during our stay. We snagged a beautiful spot away from the main campsites on the other side of a creek and sleeping next to the rushing water was so peaceful. Definitely hit Black Canyon of the Gunnison for the views and Crawford State Park for a fun day on the reservoir - two of our favorite activities during our trip. Tonda's property is very unique. We loved our spot but thought it would be helpful for other campers to know that the majority of the campsites are quite close together - if you're looking for seclusion/privacy, this might not be the place for you. Tonda and her family are available for anything you might need which was helpful, but this also means they are around the property and communal bathroom area at all times - something else we thought other campers might be interested to know. There is not a whole lot of tree cover here and the days get hot, so plan to spend your days off the property! (It takes at least 30 min to drive anywhere, so planned day trips are the name of the game.) It was such a fun getaway and a great mix of self-sufficient camping and "glamping" with some extra amenities. We hope to come back sometime down the road! Thank you!

Nice spot
Tonda’s place was great- the camp spots were large and flat. It was so nice to have access to water, a washing area, and a bathroom. Directions were very accurate she gave. In a beautiful area just outside of hotchkiss/paonia. This was my first time using hip camp and it was a great experience
