If you've ever wondered what it might be like to camp on the moon, this is it. Completely removed from civilization and surrounded by a barren nature that is alive with the subtle presence of the universe. Seasonally, Spring wildflowers burst across the landscape. Cave paintings of Chumash Indians remind us of those who lived before us. This is where the deer and the antelope play. Our Carrizo Camp is surrounded by the Carrizo Plains National Monument. This is truly a get away from it all camping. That's it. You, the coyotes and your own private moon. Our Songdog Camps are sparsely scattered atop a 200 foot mesa that looks west over a valley offering stunning desert sunsets. Our Ranch House and Glampsites are available on occasion. This is our home but we love to share our life in the outback. We believe it will give you a better appreciation of life's simpler side. This land was sparsely populated by the Chumash Indian and is evident by the numerous cave painting that remain here near the Caliente mountain. In the era of the California Missions, this land was a part of the Spanish land grants. Currently the property is privately owned and is adjacent to large sections of publicly held lands.

Base Camp site
Base camp
Base camp was awesome! It had soo much usable space to play games or have multiple tent set ups. There were no neighboring site near by either so you have privacy. Only down fall on the privacy note is your by one of the main roads, so people are driving/riding by very frequently. The site was very well kept, including the bathroom. Jen’s new store was awesome, has all the essentials!

Vintage Glamp Trailer
We’ve been coming to Songdog for years. And it’s a beautiful spot. Each year we see new improvements and thoughtful touches. The addition of the general store and library is pretty amazing.

Grand View
Beautiful property and Host
Songdog Ranch is a place where the hospitality from the owners is as beautiful as the property. The location is just perfect for campers that might want to go explore Carrizo plain area then head on through to the Los Padres National Forest and the Pine Mountain club / Frazier park community. The Ranch was very accommodating with firewood/anything else we might've needed from their store full of camping and cooking essentials. The Grandview is where we stayed which had a very beautiful pergola with picnic table, Sheltered roof, Water and a Fire ring, plus two chairs to move about and enjoy the views. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the 180 acres of property with wild flowers and trails throughout. We also enjoyed the surrounding area with suggestions from the owners. This Ranch is a beautiful example of passion, dedication and sharing. Thank you Jim and Jen for letting us enjoy your beautiful Ranch : )

Cheap Sleep
Love this place! Amazing view, quiet and perfect for watching the sunset while sitting by the firepit. Beautiful walk in the flowerfield up the hill. Hope to be back someday.
