We offer various camping accommodations, as well as a teepee. See our different listings for info on each. A few choice examples of local activities to do on or very near to our campsite include: Bird watching, hiking, river rafting or tubing, kayaking, fishing, swimming, horseback riding, stargazing, and even rockhounding. This area conforms to the Arizona Dark Sky initiative, and while we are not dark-sky certified, we've had several guests compliment us on our location. When it comes to rockhounding, or amateur geology, this is a fantastic area for exploration and study.  The cliff walls of the Verde River offer clear and distinct sedimentary layers, and the frequent flooding of the massive sandy riverbed reveals countless undiscovered treasures. We gladly welcome pets, including horses, as long as the guests inform us of their presence, and takes care of all their needs, including cleaning up any mess. There is a professional horse-boarding field and stables adjacent to our property, and a long pleasant trail allows horseback riders to follow the Verde Greenway into Old Town Cottonwood if they so desire. Please remember that this is a natural and secluded spot located directly adjacent to the state-maintained Verde Ripparian Greenway and the Verde River. This means you may encounter wildlife and pests associated with being in such close connection to nature. Be prepared to tuck your food away and bring ample protection from the insects.

Lone Cottonwood (Site #2)
Nice little campsite
Good directions and a clean campsite. I haven't seen too many reviews that gave an overview of the differences between campsites so I will do a little of that. Lone Cottonwood #2, where we were, is central and not at all private, also right near the porta-potties so those are always in view. However, it is a pull-through site, so good for those with small trailers (we were towing a small teardrop). Site 1 is across from it, it's OK. Site 6 is, I think, the best--farther back on the property and spacious. Sites 7 and 8 are set apart from all the others; the downside to these three sites would be distance from porta-potty. Sites 3, 4, and 5 are lovely, with plenty of shade. I don't think you could get a trailer of any sort in site 4 but you probably could in the others. One night a camper pulled in playing very loud music, and Vicki was quick to respond to ask them to turn it down. It's a little pricy for what you get; you could stay a few miles away in Dead Horse Ranch State Park for the same amount of money and have showers, hot water, and electric hookups. But you'd trade away some of the peace and quiet of Hawk's Hideaway.

Three Trees (Site #1)
The site was okay, but unfortunately the host Vicky was very rude! We read the rules and I'd stayed to keep it quiet at 11pm. We got there at 5:15 pm. We started setting up and play classic rock, she came to tell us to keep the music down at 5:26 pm and that if we wanted music to go to the park. So I turned it down as she was waking away then she turned and said really loud "I mean now!" So she ruined our stay literally like 15 minutes after getting there 😒 if she wants no music at all then she needs to update here rules 🙄 if you like quiet places then this camping area is for you.

Riverwalk Site #7
Beautiful sunsets and starry skies
This was our first time using Hipcamp. We had a great weekend tent camping. The directions given to get there are spot on. Each site has a picnic table and a fire pit. The Cottonwoods create lovely shade during the day. It was very quiet. There were others campers in the other camping spots, but it is spread out, so we had privacy. There are 2 porta potties available and there was a hose the first two days for water but it was gone the last day. The walk to the river is short and we saw a bald eagle and we were serenaded by frogs every night. There are horses next door and once in a while they could be heard. It was a great experience.
