Camping near Tickera guide

Overview

Perched on the northwest shore of the Yorke Peninsula with views across the Spencer Gulf, the tiny seafront town of Tickera is best known for its blue swimmer crabs and for drawing fishers to its shores during the warmer months of September through April. Aside from crabbing and fishing for whiting and squid, there’s little to do in town, but Tickera is well situated for road trips along the peninsula. Tickera campers will find options in neighbouring towns such as Port Broughton, Wallaroo, and Port Hughes, many with picnic tables, BBQ grills, fire pits, and full hookups for your caravan. The closest point of interest is Lake Bumbunga, known for its bubblegum pink colour. Afterward, follow the scenic Coastal Way south, stopping to hike part of the Walk the Yorke trail, go scuba diving at the shipwrecks of Wardang Island, or stroll the white sand beach of Berry Bay.
