My wife, my dog, and I had a wonderful weekend at Mary and Victor's farm. The site is large and gated off in the back of the property, but the walk isn't too far to the house and the hot shower. Our dog loved all of the space, and we all enjoyed the occasional greeting from the two beautiful horses who would wander over to our side of the fence for a scratch.
We will be back!
Mary & Victor's place was the perfect getaway for a friend and I who met between Boston and NYC (2 hours in either direction). It was simple to get to and a scenic drive once you get off the highway. The town of Higganum is quaint and feels like another world compared to the cities we live in. I was happy to see that everyone at the gas station and diner were wearing masks too.
The site itself was great and on the back of their property. Nice to see the horses and chickens as we drove in. The option to use their indoor bathroom to brush our teeth was great! It was nice to be able to park near where we set up camp to avoid lugging things as well. Firepit placed conveniently next to picnic table was great too. Overall a 10/10 experience.
Mary and Victor were very kind. We ended up staying in a slightly different area as some of the gates weren't open for passage to the actual site when we arrived. We car camped in our Honda Element, so I can't speak to the trailer scenario, but the outdoor shower was nice and things were fine for us.
Mary and Victor's lovely pastures were amazing to stay at! They were both very welcoming and accommodating, and my friend and I had the best time waking up and seeing the horses and chickens and the beautiful fall trees. The campsite itself was in great condition, and we were given kindling and twigs as we arrived in the late evening, which made for an easy set up and first night's fire. Their beautiful dog Marley kept us company, and both Mary and Victor gave us recommendations to see places around town. We really loved this weekend and would repeat it in a heartbeat. Thank you so much!!
This quiet, secluded campground is in a far back field of a small horse farm. The tracts are narrow so from the road I had questions about quiet and privacy, but after driving past the pastoral barns, chickens, and horse pen, I saw the fields and woods beyond, which couldn’t have been more idyllic. Mary and Victor were welcoming and gracious hosts, and my kids and I had a great time. Bonuses were riding the horses; the fire going on our arrival; and, though we didn’t end up using it, the converted horse trailer with a double bed inside.
Wonderful stay. Highly recommend!
