Our Tiny House, Blue Moon, operates off-grid on solar panels and wind power with water we haul in and out. It is on 35 acres in the Colorado Rockies and abuts the Roosevelt National Forest near the Cache la Poudre wilderness area. Great for exploring the outdoors, relaxing, & trying out a Tiny House!
You can either explore the big hill and valley on our property, relax enjoying the privacy and wildlife in the meadow tucked in our valley of the Rocky Mountains, or take off into the National Forest for a hike. If you want to go fishing in the nearby Poudre River, or rock climbing in the Poudre Canyon, it is a hike away.
The Tiny House is a stunning contemporary design hand-crafted by MitchCraft Tiny Homes, under 250 square feet including the loft, with all the amenities, and operates completely off-grid without any connection to public utilities or a well. The main loft has hand-crafted stairs leading to a queen size pillow-top Serta Perfect Sleeper mattress, organic cotton sheets and pillow cases are provided, along with a luxurious year-round down comforter. We also provide two cool core memory foam pillows and two fluffy, hypoallergenic pillows to accommodate all types of sleeping styles. The second loft accommodates one adult with a 4" thick foam mattress, slightly longer and narrower than a twin. There is a removable ladder to get into the second loft which is steep, but wide and sturdy. It requires a biggish step from the stairs up to the platform where the ladder rests, then up you go. It's not a tough climb up, but certainly unique :)
The main level living area has a striking kitchenette with a butcher block countertop and stainless steel backsplash that runs all the way to the ceiling behind open shelving. In our kitchen space you'll find a three burner gas stove and small oven, a 4.5 cubic foot refrigerator (larger than a mini fridge, but smaller than an apartment size), as well as a full size sink. Dishes, bowls, silverware, glasses, mugs, wine glasses, stainless steel pots and pans, mixing bowls, cutting board and chef's knife, spatulas, can opener, peeler, cookie sheet, glass pie pan, rolling pin, salt & pepper in grinders, percolator for coffee, tea kettle, wine tools, etc. are all provided. You should have all the essential tools you'll need to make a meal or bake some cookies, just bring your own ingredients.
Also in the main living space is a built in bench seat with cushions, an ottoman, a drop leaf table for dining or games and to use as a workspace for a laptop, ample storage in cupboards, drawers, and a closet with hangars, and a propane heater for those chilly winter nights. The bench seat is narrower than a twin bed, but it is fairly deep and 6'4" long so it could be used as a bed for one adult or a child.
The restroom has a generous shower for a Tiny House with stainless steel walls (anyone 6' or taller may need to duck slightly to get the top of their head wet), a small wall sink, and a waterless Separett composting toilet. If you follow the simple directions we provide on how to use our toilet, it won't have any odor at all. You can also search youtube for, "Tiny Minute" Composting Toilet Review, for a short video on the Separett.
We provide biodegradable and fragrance free: shampoo, conditioner, face and body soap, shaving lotion, lotion with aloe, as well as hand soap which has a lemon verbena scent. We must insist that you use the toiletries provided since we are operating off-grid, with the intent to tread as lightly on this planet as possible, and will be using a greywater irrigation system as soon as our local building department adopts the Greywater Regulation 86. Also, our fragrance free products shouldn't attract any bugs while you trek through the National Forest :) We also provide organic cotton towels and a small but powerful hair dryer that won't drain our solar powered batteries like a standard hair dryer would.

The vibe at Blue Moon Tiny House
If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
We had such a lovely weekend trip from Denver out at Blue Moon Tiny House! We knew the weather was going to be a bit rainy, so brought lots of books to read, and yarn to crochet with. We spent some time hiking around the property, as well as just relaxing in the tiny house. The weekend was filled with a lot of cooking and just disconnecting from everything. Perfect weekend getaway from Denver at only about an hour and forty-five minutes from our house. Was also a nice change of pace from our usual backpacking and car camping trips. Would definitely recommend coming out here!
