PLEASE NOTE: US FOREST SERVICE ROAD #275 (SAINTS JOHNS ROAD) IS A 4-WHEEL-DRIVE ROAD THAT IS NOT OPEN TO 4WD CARS UNTIL LATE-MAY OR MID-JUNE DEPENDING ON SNOW. IT IS A 2.75 MILE SNOWMOBILE, HIKE, BIKE, SKI OR SNOWSHOE TO THE SITE WHEN THE ROAD IS CLOSED.
Pitch your tent next to the historic structure remains of the mining ghost town of Wild Irishman as you trace the old 1880's mail route between Montezuma and Breckenridge.
Situated between Glacier Mountain and Keystone Mountain, hiking and BC/XC skiing opportunities abound. This camp is located southwest of the town of Montezuma on the backside of Keystone Ski Area.
Accessible by 4WD during summer, winter requires a bit more effort as the Forest Service road is closed to cars (but not snowmobiles or skis) at the town of Montezuma until mid-June.
Wild Irishman was a critical stop on the old mail ski route between Montezuma and Breckenridge in the 1880's, when the prospect of silver attracted hundreds to this scenic valley. Today, you can re-trace this route, or simply XC ski or snowmobile up the USFS road to the camp.

The vibe at Glacier Mountain Camp
If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
Wow, what an amazing piece of property! We absolutely LOVED our adventure at Glacier Mountain Camp. Total seclusion and incredible views. The road was a bit technical so a higher clearance vehicle is definitely recommended! We got in just fine with an Xterra and Grand Cherokee. There are two fire pits on the property and plenty of space for tents. Would highly recommend this beautiful piece of land to anyone looking for a memorable Colorado experience. And bring the pups! Endless space for dogs to run wild. Will definitely be back!
We absolutely LOVED our overnight trip at Glacier Mountain Camp. The vista views are breathtaking and the land is beautiful. There are a few wonderful little spots with fire rings that make for a perfect evening. Can't say enough good things about this place!
