Colorado Desert Life
Make sure you put in the GPS Coordinates that you get from your host after booking. Just follow that and watch the map as you go, when one road ends, you will see a path going off the road next to an abandoned trailer and old wooden house, go down that little dirt path. There will be another turn at the end of the property going right, it will be outlined with little pieces of colored glass so you know where to turn. Keep going down that road and you will just camp where ever you find a good spot! It's very primitive, but that's what makes it wonderful. There are a lot of sage bushes you will have to drive over - I did this in a Honda CR-V just fine. If you are worried about this or your car getting scratched up, this may not be the best campsite for you.
Once you get out there, it's only you for miles. Make sure you check with current regulations on fires, I went during a time where there was a ban, so no bonfire for me.
There are incredible 360º views of the mountainous landscape. It's incredibly quiet in the midst of nature, occasionally you will hear cows moo, birds chirping, or coyotes playing with their friends. It's so peaceful.
I camped in a bit of a sandy area, so it was great to just be able to walk around barefoot, cook and listen to music.
-- Be careful though, there are some flies out here that are ruthless and will bite. Keep your tent zipped up so they will not get in and bite you while you sleep.

Colorado Desert Life
The site was well described. It was not difficult to find, although the dirt path was rather unclear at times. It is truly out there, if thats what you're looking for. Beautiful place, would recommend.
Colorado Desert Life
We booked two nights at Colorado Desert Life because all of the sites at Great Sanddunes were taken. We discovered Hipcamp on line and it seemed like a cool concept. The booking went smoothly but the directions sounded a little confusing. We called our host and he returned our call with good info on the best way to find the property. Finding it was actually easier than we thought, Google maps via the Colorado Desert Life page took us right to it. Here's where the adventure began. There is no road in or parking lot or gate designating where the property begins. You will be driving on flat well packed sand between and sometimes over waist high brush. Now here is the crux, you'll know you are on the property when (and I hope this doesn't scare you off because this really is a unique environment!) you drive over the barbed wire that is the old fence now laying on the ground. It would be best to enter during daylight hours. It is very very quiet out there. The night sky was amazing! We heard Coyotes off in the distance, saw a huge Owl and saw a Jackrabbit run off during breakfast. If you have ever been driving down the road and thought "wouldn't it be cool to camp in that huge field " well now you can.
