San Luis is an absolutely gorgeous area! This was a great place to pitch our tent out in a calm area, but still be near Great Sand Dune National Park without being in a crowded busy campsite! I'd definitely love to come back again! Being surrounded by the Rockies and clear open sky in this valley was amazing!

To say I am disappointed would be an understatement. We drove up to the "campgrounds" which was essentially a junk yard full of tires. We parked at the destination awaiting for instruction, the host was no where to be found. I called and Dillon, the host, responded that they were no longer allowing campers at the site. Leaving 8 of us without any idea of the area to find camping nearby, during the busiest weekend of the season (Memorial Day Weekend).

I was not informed by Dillon or hipcamp that his site was inactive. I will be calling hipcamp tomorrow and expect a full refund. This was beyond one of the worst experiences for me and my 7 other friends who were stranded with no where to camp.

In my opinion, this campsite should not be an active location on hipcamp. I hope that no other campers experience what me and my friends had to go through.
