We are an intentional community of people dedicated to Conscientious, reflective, and sustainable living. We are not trying to create a counter-culture or a separatist society but rather a new way of existing within the current society grounded in these principles. 7 of us live on five acres and take care of the property together. Our name, The Lavra, comes from the Greek word for the place where lives come together, a sort of intersection of souls. In the late Roman monastic tradition, monks living within this model each had their own 'monastic' cell or hermitage, but came together for occasional meals, social interaction, and common spiritual life. Together, they created an environment that supported spiritual growth, efficiently managed scarce resources, and built a new kind of loving and peaceful community. As America changes, we are hoping to resurrect our model of living, adjusted and tailored for the contemporary world. We all have our private space but come together to support each other and share resources.We have a large main house where we all congregate for a weekly community meal. We also have a few other interesting buildings where community members live including a yurt, a studio building, and what we call the "mushroom."  We make goat cheese, grow vegetables, and make our own beer and wine. We enjoy hosting volunteers from around the world, as well as guests or people just interested in communal living.

    The Larva Community was such a cool little spot!! Loved the setup of the sleeping area. Super cool!

    It’s a cozy outdoor spot with a nice view. Comfortable with electricity, a fire pit and most rustic amenities. If you are looking for a great outdoors and private jumping off point for the beach and wine country, you’ve found it.

    This place is incredible! We really enjoyed it, comfortable bed, night stands, outlets to charge the phone, all while camping in a small cottage in wine country, beautiful!

    Miles and Co. were very welcoming and easy to deal with. Really, we didn't interact with our hosts much, but the privacy was nice. The site is easy to find, it was easy to set up our gear. The bed in the small cabin is quite comfortable and the space is nice and airy. The sunset is absolutely stunning while you're sitting around the fire pit. We actually made dinner at the fire pit and had it going all night. The compost toilet doesn't smell at all, and that was private. And the outdoor shower is a superb added bonus. If you need to pick up supplies, there are stores just a few miles away. I'd suggest bringing some earplugs if you want to sleep in a little because the roosters and goats will make a little noise in the morning. But I found that charming.

    The site was a nice place as well a relaxing, the garden could’ve used a bit of a clean up but overall very relaxing place!
