Spirit Trail Campsite
This site is a great way to escape the city for a quick getaway outside of San Diego. The drive from the city was beautiful, slowly feeling more remote as you pass through Alpine.
This campsite is somewhat hard to find, as it is nestled between private properties and there isn't a super clear trail. I did meet an adjacent land owner during my visit who was incredibly nice.
Once you do get to the recommended camping area, it's not hard to see why the hosts would list this property! Stunning sunset over the mountains and rugged SoCal backcountry. The brush is fairly thick and none of the boulders seem to have established routes on them, but if I had more time, I would have tried to climb up the hill to the top of the property for the view alone.
I did hear several packs of coyote at night and it seems to be prime habitat for diamond back rattlers, so pet owners, do be cautious.
Overall, a great little spot to camp, but be prepared for some route finding and an awkward hike in via property line easements.
