The vibe at Rancho Relaxo
If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
Joanie is an excellent host and has some great ideas brewing for this property. Though it was not fully ready for a slew of ready campers just yet, it's potential is HUGE! There was a bbq pit, a swing set, an outhouse, a small patio area with tables and chairs and tons of room for many sites - along with an easy hike to some killer views. Once she gets her land completely setup, this is going to be a great spot for anyone to spend a night!
We booked Rancho Relaxo at the last minute, and while it didn't really look like what was pictured, it was a perfectly fine place to sleep. Joanie was very personable, friendly and accommodating, and invited us to eat and hang out with her and her friends. The only issue was that we had requested that the dogs be kept inside, because my girlfriend had recently been attacked by a dog, and Joanie said she would be happy to keep an eye on the dogs or keep them inside. However when we tried to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night, the dogs ran at us and barked aggressively at us and the owner nor any of her friends (who I believe also brought dogs) did much to calm the dogs. Then in the middle of the night we were going to the bathroom and again the barked and chased us back into our tent and continued barking at our tent for a few minutes. I think under normal circumstances Joanie would probably have kept her dogs inside or on a leash but it was Labor Day weekend so we understand she had friends over. So just be aware that if you're at all skittish around big dogs, especially if you have little ones with you, this may not be the place for you.
Joanie was so friendly, happy and helpful when we arrived, and I loved being greeted by all the dogs! The ranch is beautiful, with horses, bunnies, quails, and we spent a nice evening with Joanie on her porch sipping wine. The campground itself has huge potential, with beautiful old trees providing shade and ambiance, the hills, and high grasses are beautiful. It also has a fire pit, BBQ, swing set, an outhouse and an old well.
we were hard up for a camping spot on the 4th of july and contacted rancho relaxo at the last minute. the place was easy to get to and we got to hang out with some great people. we opted to sleep near the horses which was actually pretty cool. they only made two runs in the night but having an ear on the ground for that galloping is a bit magical. we needed a laid back spot to stop for the night and we got what we needed at the ranch. thanks!
