Camp Parker
We enjoyed staying at Camp Parker! Sandy met us on arrival and showed us around the campsite. She lives about 15 minutes from the campsite so it felt very secluded and private. You can tell she's put a lot of work into the space: there's a clean, composting toilet, a solar shower, an area for cooking, as well as a picnic table. There are even solar lights in the ground that come on at night. The campsite is well maintained and clean and we loved having the platforms available for our tent. We pitched our tent on the closest platform but ended up deciding to set up our air mattress and sleeping bags on the platform with less tree coverage so we could gaze up at the stars. And It was such a treat to sleep under the stars! We loved having such a large private space in nature all to ourselves, though we also thought it would be a perfect spot for a bigger group camping experience. FYI: The drive out to Camp Parker is quite the adventure! It's about a 30-minute drive on an unmaintained dirt road. We ended up renting a truck and we were so glad we did. I'm not sure we could have made the drive in my sedan.
